J. Petter Galleries — Attraction in Douglas

Part art gallery, part wine shop, part wine bar, and wholly awesome. With over 75 artists (representing local, national, and even international talent), the gallery is always fresh and new. With everything from oil paintings to glass sculptures, watercolor to pastels, bronze to steel, pencil sketches to etchings and prints, there's something for everyone. Actually located between Union St and Main St just south of the bridge in Douglas, Google has been informed many times, but it's not been corrected. This is an amazingly large proper art gallery with so much fine art that it takes one a good while to wander through it. It is now attached to the Petter Wine Gallery wine shop and tasting bar, so you can grab a glass of wine (and look so very, very sophisticated) while you walk around the gallery's...

My husband and I visited the gallery for the first time for an open house. We were both blown away by the curating. We loved the groupings by color and style, not just by artist. Sculpture, fiber, jewelry, and paintings abound. The flow, texture, and vibe is amazing. There is beauty to be found at all levels and in unexpected placement.
