This little house is cozy, quiet, and very comfortable. There are two upstairs bedrooms -- one with a double bed (very comfy, but we recommend you bring your own pillow; not a complaint, just a suggestion) and one with two twin trundle beds. So upstairs technically sleeps 6. The only bathroom is downstairs tho, so if you have walking or climbing issues you will want to sleep on the sofa bed. Kitchen is very modern with a garbage disposal, gas stove, microwave and a cute little pull-out drawer fridge and freezer (not a ton of space in there, but perfect for the two of us). Nice counter space. Living room/dining room area is cozy and clean and more rustic than the kitchen. So the whole house is a mix of cozy cabin and modern. We really liked it. There's lots of outdoor space and a driveway to park and a table and chairs on the front porch (for two) and out back (for more). The bathroom is really pretty, decorated in black and white, but the shower is weird -- there's no door, thus no privacy and so only one person at a time can use the bathroom. The floor gets really wet during shower. Also, if you are not able to bend down and pick things up, this shower will be very difficult as the only place to set soap, shapoo, razor, etc. is on the shower floor. We didn't have a problem with this but older travelers might. Lots of clean towels, washer and dryer, books to read, coffeemaker, toilet paper, q-tips. Bring your own box of tissues; that's not included. Three Oaks "downtown" area is about 1 mile away (maybe less, but not really walking distance). Cute things to do in Three Oaks -- we love the library and all the used books for sale. But things in Three Oaks are often closed at odd times cuz it's such a small town. Nonetheless we love it there. About 30 minutes to St. Joseph, but only about 15 minutes to New Buffalo. We would stay here again! In fact, I wish I were still there now. I really loved the cozy,...
Read moreThe house itself is lovely and in a fantastic location, which made our trip enjoyable overall. However, the experience with Vacasa’s management was extremely disappointing.
We had noticed that the dates prior to our stay were still available on the app. We had a wine tour scheduled at 4:00 (the time of check-in), so we asked if we could simply drop our items off 20 minutes early at 3:40. We had even offered to pay for early check-in but were told no without any explanation.
The fridge and thermostat weren’t working properly for the entirety of our stay. We had purchased many food and beverage items for the trip that we needed to keep cold or frozen. There was also an active heat warning in the area the entire weekend, and the house never cooled to the temperature we set it to. When we reached out about these issues, the responses we received were condescending and dismissive. For example, we were told to "just use the arrows" on the thermostat as if we didn’t understand basic controls, and we were told to make sure the door of the fridge was fully shut. It felt patronizing, especially as a group of adult women simply asking for help with appliances that weren’t functioning properly.
The issues with the refrigerator and thermostat were never properly addressed or resolved during our stay. Additionally, the tone of the response was unprofessional and outright rude. Instead of asking how to make it right, we were told “I gather you are looking for some compensation-you should just ask.” They went ahead and processed a $40 refund, which was not negotiated and did not cover what we lost.
If I were the owner, I would seriously reconsider Vacasa as the property manager. This is a beautiful home, but if anything goes wrong, the guests are out of luck. A better management company could make this...
Read moreWe had the most incredible stay at this mid-century modern cabin nestled right on the shores of platte lake. From the moment we arrived, we could tell this was a truly special place. The cabin is immaculately clean—it felt more like walking into a boutique vacation home than a rental. Every amenity you could possibly need is thoughtfully provided: pots, pans, dishes, cutlery, bathroom essentials—you name it, it’s here. The kitchen was fully stocked and a joy to cook in, making meals together a breeze. We especially appreciated the kayaks that were available to use—it was so peaceful paddling out onto the lake each morning or an evening fish. The layout of the cabin is ideal for both relaxation and connection. One of our favorite things was that there's no tv in the main living area, which really encouraged us to unplug and enjoy the stunning natural surroundings and quality family time. It made game nights and long conversations by the lake that much more meaningful. For when we wanted a bit of indoor fun, the lower level was perfect. The ping pong table was a hit with the kids and adults alike, and there’s a cozy area with a tv downstairs that made for perfect movie nights after a day on the water. All in all, this cabin strikes the perfect balance of style, comfort, and thoughtful design. We left feeling refreshed, connected, and already talking about when we can come back....
