Heard about this place on Under the Radar. The atmosphere is very unique. It is right out at the end of a landmass on Lake Michigan with all of the seating on a dock. The parking lot is total unkept and the walk out to to the restaurant a little confusing. The building itself is eclectic hodgepodge of signs with a mix of slightly run down building. They like to blast their version of music, but if you sit out towards the end of the dock it's fine. All of this somehow adds charm to this place. I ordered the Barbecue Pulled Pork Sandwich with a side of noodles. I was with my Aunt who was the one who heard about this place. She ordered an Otis Sandwich. The sandwiches are baked so it takes a little while to receive. The 1st thing I have to say is the sandwiches are HUGE. My pulled pork had a ton of meat in it. Felt like 2 ibs. The sandwich was Spectacular, every last bite was super juicy. The sandwich was light on the bbq, you mostly tasted the pork and thats okay because it is amazing pork. The bread it's served on is also amazingly good. The noodles I got were served cold and were good, but also ehh. I took home about 2/3 of it and nuked it later and it was much better. My Aunt also loved her Otis Sandwich. The sandwiches are about $12 with no side, however the sheer size of the sandwiches make it well worth it. The service was mostly good. It was very attentive, just seemed lackadaisical. I think that's were some people get the rude from. Overall this was an easy 5 Stars. That was one of the best sandwiches I've had in years. Would I return? You bet I will.

First time ever coming here. Most likely the last. This is more of a "come for the view" resturant. Got there at 2pm on a Sunday. There were 2 to 4 people at each table. Most were just drinking, not ordering food. Watched 3 couples that all sat down 30 minutes after us all get their food, eat it, and leave. After talking to our waitress she tried to tell us they were EXTREMELY busy, which was a terrible lie. 55 minutes later, out came our food. The food wasn't bad, but it definitely wasn't anything to brag about. Our waitress tended to our table 3 times in the total 1.5 hours we were there. One to bring us our drinks and take our order, two to bring us our food almost an hour later, and three to give us our bill. The only other time we saw her was when we actually got up 45 minutes after ordering to ask her where our food was. We had an amazing day in Saugatuck and unfortunately ended it terribly by choosing to go to this place. They definitely need some work in more ways than one.

This place is more of an experience than a restaurant. Fitted with a tattered classic rock vibe this restaurant is literally at the end of an old wooden dock so hold your phone and car keys tight. Red dock Cafe is not for everyone. It is not geared toward a family friendly atmosphere but that is clearly not what they are going for. If you're a hippie, biker, blue collar, patry animal, classic rocker then you will be in heaven. Leave your credit card at home because these guys are cash only. The seating is all out doors so plan accordingly if it's windy or rainy. I got the Curry Rice and Shrimp. The presentation was great but there was so many things going on in the dish it actually became too much. There was a great quantity but overall not satisfying. My wife got the Brie Salad. It had fruit, artichokes, lettuce and Brie cheese. My daughter had a hard salami sandwich. She loved it.

Still processing a strange experience we had here yesterday. We decided to close out a great beach day with a drink at Red Dock. We were a group of 5. We grabbed beers and a table and sat down to chat. When a table in the shade opened up, we moved to it (the place is entirely self seating) and continued to drink our beers and chat. We were not being loud/obnoxious/boisterous at all and we’d had no interaction with staff aside from the bartender while purchasing our beers. We’d been there for about 30 minutes when a young man (maybe 20 years old?) came over and said something along the lines of “we need you to leave. There are some pretty big name/well-known people coming in and they want to sit here.” We were confused and taken aback so we asked him if he was an employee (he was wearing a Patagonia shirt and swim shorts, no apron or anything to indicate he was working). He (I guess? We didn’t want to argue with him) did work there so one of our friends says ok, we are almost done we’ll head out shortly, and the kid says no, now. He never said hey can you move to this other empty table, hey can you enjoy your drink over here, whatever. Just straight up asked us to leave. I mean IMO none of those would have been okay to ask existing customers to make way for better ones but they would have been nicer than kicking us out. It was about 6:45 so we’d been planning to leave soon anyway since it says they close at 7. It was just a very uncomfortable, strange interaction and left us with a terrible taste in our mouths. Two stars for beautiful surroundings but will definitely...

This was the worst service I’ve ever had. The bartender was incredibly rude!!! He is the tallest bartender there. I did not get his name, but I just know he was really tall . This was on Sunday, August 18.2024 around 1 or 2 o’clock in the afternoon, he acted like he could not be bothered with the group of people that I brought there because I told my friends that this place is really good, It was so embarrassing! He was being very rude to us … SO I asked him are you OK? And he said no!!! I’m kind of hung over! and so because he was hung over and partied last night, he felt he had the right to be rude to us. I will never come back to this place again!! I was so embarrassed for the bartender and embarrassed for my friends to bring them to such a horrible place with such a rude bartender. I’m such a big tipper for great service. When my friend went to pay for the bill I made sure that I hit the do not tip button!! I’m also in the industry and I work for my tips. I hope the owner or manager takes care of this matter before somebody else has to deal with a rude bartenders. If I could give zero...
