Who can't say something amazing about this place? The original theater area is a period-specific classic. The elegant screams from every nook and cranny of the place. The prices are very reasonable even on a Saturday night show! Popcorn and drinks aren't hugely overpriced like in major chains and it's always hot popcorn freshly made right in front of you! This place is a gem, the seats are wide and comfortable, the music isn't absolutely blasting you out of the room and the organist on Friday and Saturday nights before the show starts is great! I hope this place never changes its style and attention to detail. The old fashion way of going to the movies Is brought back to life here and deserves to stay for years to come. We only go to old fashion theaters nowadays after all the corporate policy changes to big mega theaters, where one ticket is almost $16-18 per person and the Tivoli is still under $10 for adults even on a Saturday night showing and only $6 for the matinee. They still have a Tuesday kids movie special during the summer months which I think is around $3 per person but not positive on that price it may even still be the $2 it was pre covid. This place is clean and feels safe going into and sitting through a movie. The chair in the original theater even has movable armrests so you and your Date and lean in and enjoy the show like a two-person loveseat. The 2nd theater has heated seats and recliners as well. They even serve wine and spirits now...
Read moreWe brought my daughter's service service dog to this movie theatre. Staff followed laws. We were very pleased. Also, mid-way through the movie we had a medical emergency that required a drink or sugar to avert a near ambulatory event. My daughter's service dog alerted. I approached staff & informed them that we had a medical emergency and needed assistance. One member said they closed the concession stand over an hr ago; (It was a late movie)however, another staff member understood my concern, perhaps the mgr? & obliged my request with a cup to get an ICEE without hesitation. I was more than willing to pay, but he understood the emergency. That ICEE changed the outcome of a diabetic event that likely could've ended in a hospital visit. We've been coming to Tivoli for over 50 yrs, but what that young man did tonight was far more important than any movie we've ever seen. When a business establishment recognizes ADA laws & compliance & seeks to assist the disabled, acknowledgement is required. Special thanks to that young man with blond, wavy hair & glasses. Last night he was a hero. ##servicedogssavelives. -T1D awareness

Read moreThe theater gave a free tour one Saturday from 10 to noon. Even though it was free I never imagined a line around the block. Apparently with the mass email, a write up in the paper and a Facebook notice, half of the western 'burbs came out. They have done tours before and never had quite the turn out.
Unfortunately we never got the full tour because of the crowd. While waiting in line for almost two hours in the sun the staff brought out water and kept us up to date of the situation. When we got near the door they realized that we were not going to get in even after they extended the number of tours.
They ended up letting the excess into the theater where the owner gave a short lecture about the theater's history and then let us roam around the building including behind the stage, down in the basement and the back of the bowling alley. Staff was all over giving impromptu short talks about the inner workings of the beautifully historic building.
They were so nice and accommodating - I was super impressed as they could have said "screw it" and sent us...
