Bonita Bowls — Restaurant in Downers Grove

I truly was addicted to this place but the last several monthes have been very inconsistent in service and the quality of the Bonita bowls. Coworkers and I like to get them for lunch every now and then so we expect a wait especially around noon. One day it was 30 minutes before we were served, customers that came in after us 3 got theirs before ours. I ordered first and was it was not made, my friends was made twice we told the girls working about the problem. They made mine and offered a free bag of chips. The quality of the fruit varies to ripe and over ripe at times. The amount of layers in the bowl is often inconsistent sometimes packed full and delicious to sometimes very skimpy on base but full of granola, and little fruit. After they've raised prices again its not really worth it. As we can go to numerous restaurants in town buy a meal for the same price and get 2 days out of it. A lot has to do with inconsistent training as well as managing. I can tell some of these girls it's their first job, they dont have the experience yet are thrown to the lunch rushes by themselves to deal with hungry customers and rude door dashers with very little supervision. Training, time/order management, and consistency is key for winning back the fan base here. Plus maybe a separate area for the online orders so they are not all over the pickup counter where people picking up can grab...

4pm on a Friday, the place was filled with a decent amount of people but was pleasantly not over crowded. The restaurant was small in size with pink paint coating the exterior brick walls. The interior was tastefully decorated with a cute appearance. Me and my friend were immediately greeted and we looked over the menu. This restaurant has many options including a build your own bowl! It comes with many healthy food options as well! We ordered and the sweetest lady was working as the cashier, she was very polite and thanked us for our tip. We didn't have to wait very long, getting our food only five minutes after ordering. The food was phenomenal! I got the basic avocado toast which is made with sourdough bread topped with Avocado, Bacon, Cherry Tomatoes, Everything but the Bagel, and Balsamic Drizzle. You could also get honey drizzle if you wanted too. It cost $9 and was totally worth every penny! My friend chicken Ceasar warp and I tried it, it was so delicious! The food their taste soooo good. I was thrilled to discover a smoothie shop in the vicinity. I enjoyed the smoothie and açaí bowl at the restaurant.

Unfortunately If you desire a wholesome experience, it would be better to choose another place with better customer service. The first couple of times I visited, the young lady at the counter provided assistance and was very kind and helpful. However, on my visit today there was a young man working instead. As I began placing my order, he hurried me, despite there being no one else in the place. When I mentioned wanting a different fruit, he cut me off and raised his voice. I should have departed but I was in so much shock that I just paid and sat down and waited for him to prepare the bowl. Keep in mind, there was nobody else present except for both of us, so when he mentioned that an order was prepared, I assumed it was for me.
