We had possibly the single worst customer service experience of my life at this establishment. Please, do not come here, and especially don't come anytime near closing time!!!! The manager/owner understands they have a hold on the mini-golf market around Traverse City, and have learned they can be as horrible as they like to the customers without any repercussions. Their official slogan needs to be changed to "the customer is always wrong," or "I want you off my course near closing time."
The owner/manager clearly didn't want us there, and kept visiting our group to speed us along the course so he didn't have to turn the lights on if it got too dark. Mind you, we started around 5:30-5:40pm on a Saturday. The Google information listed the business as closing at 7:30pm, but he refused to claim any control over that time and to instead go by the closing time listed at 6pm on the website. This is an issue the business can easily fix, and cant be changed by the customer. Why claim it's the customers fault for not reading their website, something nobody does when they can get that information from Google?
My group consisted of 6 adults, and there was only one other group on the course, which was an older group of 2 one handful of holes ahead of us. The course policy is to only allow group sizes of up to 4 at any given hole, which seems reasonable when it's packed, but we were the only other group on the course, and we even noticed we were catching up to the group ahead of us. That didn't stop the manager from visiting us several times, threatening to kick us out for not splitting our group into 2 groups of 3. When we mentioned how we were gaining on the other group, he kept downplaying our claim and continued to threaten to kick us out. We golfed from 5:45pm-6:25pm, which is more than reasonable, especially considering most of the clientel consists of families with small children. I have grown up playing mini-golf, and continue to do so a few times a year, but I have never experienced such a disdain for the customer at any other mini-golf business before, or any business for that matter.
For management: If you want to close out at 6pm on the dot, change your closing time to 5pm, and update your times on your Google store page. You succeeded in making pirates, who killed people in their line of work, look like angels when compared to your...
Read moreVERY disappointed with the changes
Went back after a few years only to find out their zip-line (they SOLD it), the slide, and the rope/net "obstacles" course have vanished. They also no longer have any gift/memorabilia items (t-shirts, and stuff). It seems like the only reason to go there is for their miniature golf, which is big and very nice. In all honesty, it's not worth going out of your way for though.
They have bumperboats and a fair sized go-kart track. The "gameroom" is a 10' x 10' room with a couple old games. In my opinion, they should get rid of the gameroom entirely and save the money on the electricity and bring back the things people can't experience elsewhere. Even on a summer weekend, there was maybe 12 cars, not busy at all. Kinda depressing actually. I rode the go-karts with my daughter (1 kart for her and 1 cart for me). There was no line, and we were the only ones on the track. In retrospect we should have stayed longer at great wolf lodge, lol.
So if all you want to do is play putt-putt, drive in a figure 8 four times and get splashed in a boat, then this place is for you. Otherwise, I'd be looking elsewhere for family fun.
The owner should be disappointed with their decision making in the operating of this facility and sell the business to someone who is willing to put the time, effort, and money into...
Read moreMy family all decided to head to Pirates Cove to entertain them. We had 9 of us. 3 kids in the group who were spending time with their grandparents. We golfed as a big group, trying to rush along so we weren’t holding anyone up. At the end of the 17th hole a manager named Andrew (pictured)came up to my 70 plus year old mother and began to scold her and degrade her claiming he ordered her to split the family up to golf. He then also claimed he told all of us to split up at the beginning but that was a lie. No one ever spoke with him and we would have easily complied with such an easy request. The way he spoke to my mother like the way he was did get a reaction out of me to verbally protect her. His behavior was shocking especially at a mini golf place and we told him he was completely treating us horribly. He then kicked us of the course, snatching the golf clubs out of my 9, 13, and 16 year old kids very aggressively. Seemed like pretty aggressive and assaultive behavior towards children. We are in great hopes that Andrew knows he kicked out two military veterans (Vietnam War and Noble Eagle) off the course for a very minor miscommunication from when my 70 year old mom and dad got the clubs and made payment. We are in hopes the owner will make this right with my mother and father who were just trying to spend time with...
