PureGym - Formerly Blink Fitness — Attraction in East Orange

Very disappointed in this location, I recently went to this gym with a guest and was denied access because he was wearing closed off Yeezys with socks. I was told by Jocelyn that he needed to wear sneakers to enter the gym floor. I still wanted to honor her request by letting her know my guest was not going to workout. As she was speaking a man walked in with sandals and socks and when I questioned why she did not ask him the same question, she stated she knew him. She showed me the set of rules posted on the wall stating workout attire should be worn. The rule does not specifically stated sneakers. I would like blink to really educate their workers on what workout attires entails. There are many workouts that do not allow sneakers for example Pilates, yoga and the list goes on and the person who was actually going to workout was wearing sneakers. The worst part about this was we had to go to a different location that was inconvenient for us just to be allowed in without anyone ever questioned anything about our attire! If this is a blink fitness rule it should be apply to every location. I believe this was Jocelyn opinion which I’ve stated to her and those whom she called to assist me even though I did not request to be speaking to anybody else. Jocelyn as a manager you should be able to handle your job not send it to the next person because you are unqualified for the position! I have reported this incident to blink fitness. Jocelyn should focus on her job instead of flirting with a police officer at the desk. If you wanted to show off authority to your little cop friend you could have done it elsewhere instead of...

I can’t say enough great things about Blink Fitness in East Orange, NJ! From the moment I walked in, the experience has been nothing short of amazing.

I signed up a month ago with Shakur, who gave me an outstanding tour of the gym. He answered all my questions clearly and concisely, making me feel confident and excited to join. The very next day, I had a FREE personal training session with Shan, and WOW—he completely changed my perspective on my own strength and agility! Not only did he guide me through each exercise, but he also demonstrated them while thoroughly explaining proper form and technique.

What really stood out was Shan’s generosity and dedication—our session was supposed to be 30 minutes, but he went the extra mile and trained me for 45 minutes! That level of commitment made it an easy decision for me to sign up for 16 training sessions with him. Fast forward, I’ve completed all 16, seen incredible improvements, and immediately signed up for another 16! Shan is the definition of leading by example—he doesn’t just instruct, he proves the process works!

Beyond training, the overall atmosphere at Blink Fitness East Orange is welcoming, clean, and motivating, thanks to the amazing Jocelyn. She greets everyone with a warm smile and brings top-tier leadership to the gym, making every visit a positive experience.

Blink can never get the staff situation correct. Some of the staff are phenomenal the rest just are...I came in and a young lady takes my temperature...she was nice and friendly...I was slightly distracted by a video I needed to watch for class so after she took my temperature I started walking to the locker room...another young lady tries to get my attention by yelling excuse me...I felt embarrassed and as I walk up to the desk to scan my tag I said “No hello or anything?” to which she said good afternoon and rolled her eyes meanwhile the guy whom she was talking to standing right there smiling.:.this is the same with almost every Blink I go travel to...guest who patron the gym are ALWAYS viewed as interruptions to conversation or phone time not seen as the reason they hold their jobs...I have been with Blink literally for 5-6 years and it’s the same from the Bronx where I started to East Orange where I currently work out in...(I visited the one in Passaic and the only close to Elizabeth and had a great experience) however it seems the ones in my community(urban) are the ones with these instances...this is one persons view on a situation but I shouldn’t have to go outside my own community to be treated...
