I’m writing this letter to share my experience with the staff handling the line at the American Dream ferris wheel. Please believe me when I say I am usually level-headed and let unpleasant situations heal with time. What happened on Saturday, March 30 is something I can not seem to let go. There were five of us trying to ride the ferris wheel. Myself, my daughter, my friend, and her two daughters. Before we entered the line, we gave notice at how the capsule was being organized. Every single capsule I witnessed was being sent off with one group, usually containing 3 or 4 people. There was no group of people greater than two that were being bunched up with another group. My daughter, as many children today, has social anxiety. She would much rather be with family and friends. Having witnessed the order, we looked forward to our group having our own capsule and agreed to go for a ride, this turned out not to be our case. The lady running the line told us to get into a capsule with a family of 3 already sitting inside, we politely asked if we could wait to get our own capsule. Since there were five of us and this seemed to be the norm, I thought it wouldn't be an issue. The lady smiled and told us “No, you're going to be going into this capsule”. Having my preconceived notions of how the ride operated, I asked why and she explained that the rules were 8 to a capsule. Explaining what I witnessed earlier, she continued to tell me no and that if I didn’t like it, I didn't have to go. Seeing this arguing was going to get me nowhere, so I asked to speak to a manager. The manager arrived swiftly and told me the exact same thing. Having exhausted my options I asked If i could receive a refund, which the manager agreed too. Although the lady did seem to single our family and the one sitting in the capsule out, I am not attempting to pull a discrimination card here, I am just very confused as to why the so-called strict guidelines are being applied so loosely and not pertaining to everyone. We just wanted our group of five to have our own space, just as everyone else did.The lady running the line seems to have some sort of bias. Again, I do not wish to make this a bigger deal than what it was, even calling the manager was out of the norm for me. This experience has however definitely ruined our experience and left us feeling...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of experiencing the Dream Wheel at the American Dream, and I must say, it was a fantastic and romantic experience. I highly recommend opting for the Gold class as it offers a more luxurious and intimate setting.
Upon arriving at the Dream Wheel, my girlfriend and I were delighted to find that we had our own private cabin complete with a table and chairs. This allowed us to relax and enjoy the ride in comfort while taking in the breathtaking views. The cabin also came with a complimentary drink for each of us, which added to the overall enjoyable atmosphere.
I opted to prepay for our tickets, and I was pleased to discover that it was a bit cheaper than the walk-up price. This allowed us to save a little money while still enjoying the full experience. However, do keep in mind that the main wait we experienced was for the cabin we specifically paid for. Therefore, I recommend arriving at the gate area approximately 30-35 minutes before sunset to ensure you secure your preferred cabin. If you notice a long queue outside, it's best to enter even earlier to avoid any potential disappointment.
The Dream Wheel itself was truly mesmerizing. As we ascended, the panoramic views of the surrounding area unfolded before our eyes. The ever-changing colors of the sky during sunset created a romantic ambiance that made the experience even more special. We were able to see the cityscape and the landscape in all its glory, making it a truly memorable ride.
Overall, I highly recommend the Dream Wheel at the American Dream, particularly the Gold class. The private cabin, coupled with the complimentary drinks, provided an intimate and comfortable setting. Just make sure to plan ahead and arrive in advance to secure the best possible cabin and time for the most romantic views. It's an experience that I'm sure you and your partner...
Read moreI’m highly disappointed after riding on this Ferris wheel with my husband for over $50.
First, when we were purchasing tickets, we were told that they were two different types of tickets: $24 tickets where you would share a gondola with strangers if you had a group less than 6 people; the other option was gold tickets for $31 where you would have access to a private gondola. We went with the $24 tickets.
Once it was time to get on the ride, the ride never truly stopped to let us on. It continued to move at a slow pace as we were climbing aboard, which is dangerous. Next, once we got inside, there was no space to sit as there were already 5 adults. In total, there were 7 adults squeezed into a cabin and you don’t even get individual seats or a bench that outlines the perimeter of the gondola. Instead, you get a tiny bench in the center. There was no space to squeeze 7 adults on a tiny bench. It made for an uncomfortable ride where most had to stand. It would’ve been more comfortable to ride on a public transportation bus because at least you get a seat to sit.
The ride was also painfully slow, and I couldn’t wait to get off.
The employees need to do a better job in informing people what they’re paying for. They need to let people know how long the ride will take, how many spins it takes, and that cheaper tickets means you’ll be squeezed tightly with other riders. At no point should there be 7-8 adults squeezed into one gondola where you know there will not be enough seating for them. Had the employee mentioned that there would be 7 adults in our cabin, we would’ve just upgraded to the expensive tickets.
In other reviews, people have complained about the same problems, and it’s clear that this company doesn’t care to fix them. Save your money or at the very least, buy the expensive tickets to avoid an...
