Located on the 3rd floor of the American Dream Mall, offering take-out and dine-in. Plenty of seating in the food court to ensure social distancing. The price of ramen is reasonable and filling for its price. After placing your order, you can see the staff assembly your ramen in front of you.
Tonkatsu Ramen is their pork bone broth ramen. Absolutely will try to get it again! The pork bone broth is hearty and clean flavor; however, this isn't something you'd eat if one is on a diet as it is high in sodium. The Tonkatsu Ramen contains slices of King Trumpet-style mushrooms, bean sprouts, scallions, and pieces of chashu. The ramen eggs (Ajitsuke Tamago) are done perfectly. The egg white is well seasoned, while the egg yolk was perfectly soft boiled. The egg provided a sweet, salt, and rich umami flavor to the ramen.
Korean Fried Chicken (10PCS) for $14 is a must-try. We got the soy garlic chicken, and it was nicely marinated and well fried. Boneless chicken, double fried. Flavorful topped with scallions. The breading was crispy while the inside is tender and moist. While some pieces were too big, the breading was not fully deep fried thoroughly.
Mango Jasmine Tea was $5, toppings are an additional $.50. In the tea, thyme was included in the drink, which allowed the glass to be more refreshing and accentuated the tea's flavor. Would undeniably order again.
Gyoza (8 PCS) for $6. Not worth its price as the flavor was average gyoza that can be found in supermarkets. The skin was not...
Read moreWe parked at lot D, so Pora Ramen is at the far end of the food court. We had to get past a mass of people... But if you come from lot A, I guess it would be the 1st few stalls.
Order and wait, the wait was awkward as I was constantly in people's way no matter where I moved... but that is how food courts are... I kind of wish the order and pickup stations were reversed. You would then be able to wait in a larger area.
I ordered:
Mango Jasmine Tea - delicious, just a tad too sweet for me. I would have liked to be able to say how much sugar I wanted. More, as is, or less 😀
Black Tonkotsu Ramen - the broth is good. The egg was delicious. The pork was tender and tasty. My only complaint is that the broth did not stick to the noodle that well to pick up the flavor, so it was bland until I scope a spoonful of soup. I think the noodles were too straight, it needed some waves 😀
I wouldn't come all the way to American Dreams for the Ramen, but if I was there already, I might give...
Read moreI LOVE ramen. I sample all the ramen I can at restaurants in the US and Japan with a nice, spicy tonkotsu being my favorite. I got a to go order and I was very pleased with the packaging and the ingredients. Everything looked fresh and smelled delicious. When I combined my bowls, it took some time for the noodles to "unstick" from a ball to being edible.
The broth was hearty and delicious, but I don't think it was very spicy when mixed. I'd rate it a little bit above "mild" and not quite even a medium. Again the ingredients were nice and fresh with the bean sprouts crispy. I wasn't a big fan of the noodles. I found them acceptable, but not a highlight.
The reason I am only giving it a 3 star is because after my meal, I had indigestion for hours afterward. I'm not sure if it was a combination of the high sodium and the noodles, but I was left with a sore and upset stomach between lunch and well into the evening which is not normal for me after a good, spicy...
