Took our 2014 Range Rover with 31,880 original miles in for service in July 2022. After new brakes, Struts, control arm, right front axle, water pump, Y Pipe and nearly $15,000 bill picked up the vehicle. 1000 miles later engine is seized. Ray Catena Edison Service states need new engine that will cost 20K or more because the estimate stated price could go up after they start working. Master mechanic who use to work there told me the service advisors took advantage of us with the repairs and likely caused the damage when they changed water pump and Y pipe. Who knows for sure. Land Rover Corporate only offered a small percentage of the price. Engine should not fail with 31,880 miles and service department should have stepped up being as though they just charge 15K recently for repairs. Service advisors earn higher commissions when they sell you a bigger job that's the incentive to push repairs you don't actually need. Not too mention the service technicians are not the best, most of the really great ones have left to start their own repair shop. Needless to say I was not pleased with Ray Catena Land Rover Service in Edison New Jersey. Never had any issues with this vehicle, very low miles and always dealer maintained. This my third Land Rover, just bought one cash in September.
Service failed to perform the below per Land Rover service recommendations.Had the below been done maybe the engine would not have failed with 32K miles after spending $15,000 for repairs. Zero accountability from this dealer.

Read moreI never thought that it would come to this point with such a reputable dealership (Or so I thought.) that is Ray Catena of Edison. I had purchased a brand new 2022 Range Rover Sport, and not longer after it was unfortunately declared a lemon. First, I had started dealing with the Ray Catena of Edison dealership to either exchange my vehicle or do a buy-back of my vehicle. After failing to do so on my own with the Edison dealership, I had gotten a law firm involved. I was told that I could pick another vehicle by the dealership, and I had done so with salesmen Tom Costagliola. Shortly after that, Tom had sold the vehicle from right under me and created a whole new mess on top of the first one. After that, I had picked a THIRD vehicle with the help of manager Alan at Ray Catena of Edison. I had provided the VIN number of the newly chosen vehicle directly to the Range Rover manufacturer. They had sent me an email saying I could exchange for this vehicle, only if in addition I pay an extra $12,000. This additional charge was due to the fact that the vehicle I had chosen cost more than the original vehicle I purchased. After I was given this information, I had agreed to go to the dealership with a check for the amount stated ($12,000) and return my original vehicle and assume ownership of the new vehicle I had chosen. Manager Alan then told me that he is losing money on this deal, and that he is not accepting of the deal we had made any longer. More than 6 months after going back and forth, manager Alan told me the best thing is to have my lawyer call the 1-800-SERVICE number. Now here I am, just about a year in driving a lemon vehicle, and they are still kicking the can down the road. I am STILL in my lemon vehicle and in limbo. What is my future with a $110,000 lemon vehicle? While this was all happening, I was in the market for a Range Rover Defender for my wife. I tried to purchase the vehicle with the same dealership (Edison), and they were both very unprofessional and sarcastic about this future purchase. I had no choice but to go to their competitor, Land Rover Parsippany on U.S. Route 46. The first day I walked into the Parsippany dealership I was handled by salesman Chad, we secured the vehicle on the first day and drove it off the lot on the second day! And it’s on my driveway as we speak! Once I am done dealing with the Edison dealership, I will absolutely be purchasing my next Land Rover at the Land Rover Parsippany dealership. At Parsippany, I was treated the way a customer should be treated,...
Read moreThis service center mad two critical mistakes on two separate occasions that they not only refuse to take responsibility for, but cost me over $4,400 in repairs.
I drive a 2016 Range Rover HSE Turbo Diesel. In the first instance, I had brought the car in for service in October and then had a light come on in January, indicating there was an issue with low DEF Fluid in the engine.
Since I live in brooklyn, I brought the car to friend who works on diesel trucks and diesel imports locally, before driving from NY back to NJ to see if it was a simple fix, and when he opened the hood, the DEF tank cover was opened, and the tank was completely empty. The last and only time the hood had been opened before this was 90 days prior, when I went to Ray Catena Land Rover in Edison for annual service, where the tech was supposed to fill up fluids, including the DEF. They opened the hatch, forgot to fill up the DEF, I drove 2,000-3,000 miles over the following 90 days and the lack of DEF caused an issue which ended up being over $1,000 repair.
The second instance was worse - I brought the car in because a yellow notification light came on in the car in April. My wife brought the SUV back to this dealership (shame on me for trying again) and the tech told us that the light was due to an O2 sensor, and that instead of leaving the car over night, taking a $200 uber round trip to go home and then come back and get it once repairs were done, he said "nothing will happen if you dont fix this, I recommend just having the sensor replaced in October when you come for annual service.
Fast forward 5 months and my car fails inspection, and I find out that because the sensor was broken, the diesel exhaust system was not able to flush out the emissions (or some version of this verbiage I am not 100% familiar with) and that the repairs would be $3,000+, up to $10,000. I questioned the validity of this claim, brought the car to a private shop who services diesel imports AND the new Land Rover dealership in brooklyn, without telling them the previous diagnosis, and both locations confirmed that not fixing the O2 sensor caused the issues, and that the service and repairs required would in fact be over $3,000, which I have now paid.
This dealership is a nightmare, their Service team is either not experienced enough, or purposely screwing people, and either way, they should not be used.
