Food Lion does not assist customers with disability.
So I just went shopping at Food Lion. I met a very sweet middle-aged female. She let me get ahead of her in line because she did not want to hold me up. She informed me that she is currently coping with bone disease (I will not specify due to privacy). She also had undergone hip replacement surgery. As she was getting ready to unload her shopping cart on the supermarkets checkout counter with conveyor belt I briefly glanced over at the clerk to see if he would help this disabled individual. The clerk appeared to have no empathy for the situation and I immediately intervened. I offered to place her groceries from her shopping cart on to the checkout counter. I also offered and loaded all her groceries in her motor vehicle.
This is an individual that presented with significant difficulty in performing normal gait function and general finger dexterity. She required the use of the shopping cart as an assistive device to help her walk. She had had difficulty unbuckling the child safety belt where she secured her purse. Based on what she told and what I have observed this woman is coping with a chronic condition that will most likely not improve.
Food Lion’s lack of compassion will contribute to this individual potentially exacerbating her current condition.
I could have opted to speak to the store manager or contact corporate however, I firmly believe that this is not the first this blatant disregard for disabled consumers has occurred. This very nice woman told me that she hopes to see me there again clearly indicating she is a repeating shopper.
So I feel this should be made public. If Food Lion should change their ways I will be glad to share that publically as well.
I am deeply heart by Food Lions inaction.

Read moreI gave two stars because I spoke with the Assistant Manager, who was very nice and apologetic. Also, the staff is always very friendly and helpful. But onto the review: I already don't like this particular Food Lion because its scary outside with weird or strange looking folks always hanging around outside, no matter what time you visit. Sometimes, they are soliciting and sometimes, just being plain old creepy...I try not to go here after dark. Secondly, the bakery and meat selection is something to be "not desired." However, what sparked my review of this place is the young lady behind the deli counter--with all that open food--not wearing a face mask. She did pull her mask on when she came over to take my order. I perused the deli area for a few minutes while listening to this young lady ferociously complain to her coworkers--who were wearing masks--and when she finished, she came over grabbing at her mask covering part and said, "Yes?" Needless to say, I did not place my deli order. Clearly, not wearing the mask was bad enough, now you want to prepare my order with unwashed hands after grabbing your mask--which was hanging below her chin. No thanks! I ended up buying Oscar Meyer packages from...
Read moreThe carts are not being wiped down. No carts were available and customers were having to search through the parking lot to find cards. This was brought to the attention of the manager this morning and also that there is no hand cleaner by the door as you enter or exit. She assured my wife that she would take care of it. 20 minutes later nothing. The Food Lion on weeksville road has been superb with having cleaner by the door a person wiping down the carts and could not do more to help during this crisis. Unfortunately the manager have the Food Lion on Ehringhaus needs...
