The lobby was beautiful but it simply fostered false expectations of competence. My stay here was mediocre, to say the least. The small road to get in was very dilapidated. It's not our fault the city can't maintain its roads, but it's still their problem, and we had to endure it. Upon entering there was a chemical smell in the air, which was such a shame as the building itself was nice. The USB ports that were provided seemed to be very old but that can be attributed to wear and tear. The amenities were lacking. I could accept all of this and maybe give them a 3.5/5 but their Do Not Disturb process/policy is egregious.

My family and I put the DND sign up right away, and what happens? House keeping later barged in without knocking before opening the door - my spouse ran to the door to stop her & after giving them towels said housekeeper motioned towards the phone with a limited explanation of "needing to change the status". My spouse told her no & not to come in several times. This did not stop her from pushing past my partner into the room while I was completely undressed and my underage child was in their underwear. This was not only a complete invasion of privacy it was a lack of respect and human decency.

I called the front desk and they said while she should've knocked it is policy to change the status from our room phone. Even after we explained our family was in a state of undress. Why on Earth would the housekeeper still be required to enter a room that says DND? Why would she barge into the room after we said NO? What kind of policy requires her to enter the room of naked guests?

I give Hilton Newark a -1000 & I would never stay at this location again.

I kindly request that the management of Hilton Newark address the issues I've raised during my stay and consider appropriate compensation or resolution. This was beyond unacceptable.
