On 8/10 around 8:30am, my friend and I were discriminated against by the bar tender/waiter. We sat at the bar, and once we put our order in for drinks, the waiter pointed to the price of the drink to let us know how much it would be (even though we did not ask), and we said “ok.” He then told us that it would be a service charge, and we once again said “ok.” He then proceeded to tell us that the establishment did not take cash (again without us asking about it), and we still replied that it were fine. He proceeded to make our drinks l, brought them over and then asked for our ID’s. We joked about why we were being asked for them after the drinks were made. He stated that it were company policy to card everyone, which is understandable. As time went on, more customers arrived to the seating area and the bar. Customers with different skin color than my friend and myself. The bartender/waiter did not ask for any of their ID’s when they asked for drinks, nor did he tell them about a service fee or the fact that they did not accept cash. This did not sit well with me and made me feel discriminated against because why were we the only customers that he decided to relay this information to about prices, service charges and card payments while also not carding anyone else but us? He also never came back to ask us if we needed anything else or wanted another round of drinks, but did so with other customers. Once we were finished and needed to be on our way to our gate, we asked for the check. When he brought it over, I asked to speak with him on the side to let him know how he made us feel as paying customers. He told us that some people do not tip and that’s why he told us about the service charge. Also that we didn’t have to tip if we weren’t happy. It was never about the tip. It was about singling us out and not treating other customers the same. He then went on about telling people about the service charge who only order drinks. A gentleman a few seats down from us only ordered a drink but was never told about the service charge or carded for ID. I let him know this as we had been watching since the gentleman sat down. He just kept repeating that we didn’t have to tip. I repeatedly told him that it wasn’t about the top. Once I saw that the conversation was going in circles, I paid our bill and left. It has been on my mind all day, so I felt the need to relay this information. I’m not sure what experience he may have had in the past with people of color, but it was completely unprofessional to treat us that way and not anyone else. Had he been this way with all customers, it would not have been a problem. Please provide additional training to this employee on discrimination and workplace ethics. It would be a shame for him to treat others this way and put your establishment at risk for a third party racial...
Read moreThis is the WORST possible choice you could make for a pre flight meal...hands down past 20 years as a world traveler.
Staff not attentive and lazy (the manager is however, very poorly dressed gentleman that tries really hard)
Low grade food. Fries were stale, mayonnaise was off brand/weird or home made concoction (not all white/cream). Unable to with multiple tries to get the temperature for the red meat correct. Everything comes out well done.
Slow to bring out food. Not attentive to refills
Dirty. Had to remind the staff to clean the sitting area. Cleaning lady who hardly seem to speak English wiped the table and allow the debris to simply fall on the floor of the exact sitting area. Sitting above someone else's table mess. A bit better than having your plate on it (I guess).
Ingredients and prep style: Aside from the bootleg mayonnaise, the lettuce is shredded (on a burger, the tomato's aren't fresh, instead broiled/pan seared, potato fries are reheated, brrad seems stale and falling apart to the touch. Sandwich cannot be picked up). Pepsi line seems flat (no coke products) so fountain drinks are nasty.
Purchased a double chocolate muffin for the flight. To my surprise the muffin was freezing cold. I mean past normal refrigeration. Seemed like it was in a freezer. Took a bite to make the best if my $5.00 USD wasted and realized that too was stale. I'm amazed by this and it served as my inspiration to provide detailed feedback.
This place should be closed down immediately and everyone fired. Waste of $40 (for a supposed burger, fries and a soda). Total waste of time and real good airport...
Read moreI am not familiar with the Newark airport. I’m heading home and had 2 hours. I was hungry but didn’t want fast food or subs. I happened onto this restaurant. Was able to sit in one of those cozy booths; I don’t like to sit in the middle by myself. My waiter was sooo funny!!! He was very kind and I watched him with his other tables. He took such good care of everyone. Nothing was rushed, and yet nothing took forever to get. I had the Breakfast Sandwich and they were kind to allow me to substitute bacon for the ham. I had a nice relaxing time. Music is good and not too loud. Very clean!! Staff was always busy doing things, not just standing around. When I got my sandwich, I could have cried it was so good!!! It was on a brioche bun that was warm and perfectly toasted. On the inside. The egg was perfection and the bacon was hot and crisp. Even the iced tea was good!!! I’m a Southern girl so I know tea!!! What I couldn’t get over was how friendly my waiter was!! This will sound strange, but if I lived here, I would come to this restaurant (in the airport!!!!) for the food, the atmosphere, the amazing service, and the...
