Well let just say they have a lot to learn about customer service and communication between staff.

Order a To Go order....30 min later the cook ...notices us waiting patiently...and explains that our order has been done for quite some time. No staff communication ?

The cook offered to remake or give us a gift card. I think for me having them telling me that with a really big smile on their face just made everything kind of off putting.

I denied all of the above. Waiting with three hungry kids it is not always the best choice to wait another ten ...fifteen minutes.

Arrived home ready to dig in.

Noticed it was still ok. So that's good. Then noticed one ordered item is missing and no condiments anywhere to be found.

With that out of the way let's just say disappointment is an understatement especially when you have a hungry kid looking at you and expecting their food.....but it is not there.

Managed to make everyone happy by sharing everything.

Called the establishment and explained one order was missing. They will refund the order that was missing.

As far as food goes the chicken was crispy and flavorfull. I am noticing a hint of fish from the oil that it was cooked in.

I did not notice fish in the menu but yet maybe that's just me. Oil needs to be changed ? Salad was fine. No dressing. Fried pickles way overcooked.

That's just my experience and only the first time as a customer.

Definitely had higher expectations but unfortunately I am getting used to not receiving what was expected and compensated.

I am the kind of person that only gives you one chance ....well I am not saying I will not go back ....I am saying i will probably drive by and not even notice the place is there because of not so...

Bird in Hand has carved a niche for itself in Elkhart's burgeoning culinary scene, offering a refined fast-casual dining experience in the heart of the revitalized River District.

The restaurant is housed in a modern architectural gem, characterized by clean lines, expansive windows, and a minimalist aesthetic that exudes sophistication.

The menu at Bird in Hand is a study in culinary simplicity, focusing on high-quality ingredients and expertly prepared comfort food with a modern twist. Their signature crispy chicken sandwiches, available in a variety of tantalizing preparations, are a testament to their commitment to flavor and freshness. Beyond the poultry, patrons can indulge in handcrafted burgers, vibrant salads, and a selection of delectable sides. Vegetarian diners will appreciate the thoughtful inclusion of options like the black bean burger and the kale salad, ensuring a satisfying experience for all.

The interior design is a harmonious blend of contemporary chic and inviting warmth. Natural light streams through the expansive windows, illuminating the sleek furnishings and subtle decorative accents. The outdoor patio provides a welcome respite during clement weather, allowing guests to savor their meals amidst the vibrant energy of downtown Elkhart.

Parking Considerations: While Bird in Hand boasts a prime location on East Jackson Boulevard, the realities of urban parking present a potential challenge. Street parking can be limited, particularly during peak dining hours and with the nearby Beacon Health & Fitness drawing its own clientele. Guests are advised to plan accordingly, allowing extra time to secure parking or considering alternative options such as nearby...

I really wanted to like this place. It's new and locally owned. We love supporting small businesses, especially restaurants.

This place was disappointing for a few reasons. First was the price. $18.99 for one order of tenders, fries and a small side of cole slaw is a bit high. I didn't even get a drink. The cashier actually sighed outloud when I didn't put a tip in their jar on the counter when I ordered my food. I guess she didn't see that I added it to my bill when I paid with my card.

The 2nd disappointment was how long it took to get people's orders out to them. There wasn't a big rush or anything or a long line of people, but it took at least 20 minutes for me to get my single order and I saw others getting impatient as well.

My food was good and cooked right. The "hot honey" sauce was runny and messy, but had a decent flavor and heat level.

This place was clean and overall the staff was friendly, but the owners may have missed doing some research on the demographic of the customers in this area. The food was good, but really overpriced for simple chicken tenders and sandwiches.

I wish them the best of luck. I probably won't be back...

Super cute restaurant, I love the decor and open seating, and overall there’s a good vibe. When we visited we wanted to sit in the outdoor area, but it had recently rained and everything was too wet and dirty to use. I got a chicken sandwich and it was okay, nothing too special. It was too moist so the bread got a little soggy and it fell apart as I ate it, which isn’t the ideal experience for a crispy chicken sandwich. The fried pickles were GREAT but be warned that the servings are big! I was with a group of 5 and we got 3 orders, now it’s 3 days later and we’re still eating fried pickles 😅 (luckily they warm up well in the air fryer)! Overall it was a good experience but didn’t quite meet my expectations. Pretty expensive for an order-at-the-counter place ($90 for 5 people😐).

Bird in the Hand is a place I used to like to grab a quick lunch or dinner, but over time the quality and value has gone down. In the beginning I would’ve rated this establishment 4 or 5 stars, but this will be my last time here and it’s an easy 2 now...and that’s after eating here about a dozen times. I’m holding this restaurant to a higher standard due to the association with Navarre Group, but it’s a shame what the quality has come to now. The chicken sandwiches leave much to be desired as seen in the photos of how the chicken sandwiches used to be compared to now. I’m surprised that the cook sent out this sad chicken sandwich today. For a few dollars more you can get a nice burger and fries from Artisan (same restaurant group).

First time visiting Bird in the Hand! What a delicious spot! So glad that we came here. We ordered the popcorn chicken, chicken tenders, salad, single smash burger, and the fresh cut fries. All of them were incredible and delicious. The hot and honey and spicy sauces were so good to dip the chicken in. Very family friendly. Loved the tunes playing in the speakers - created a fun vibe. Great service — we ordered a salad that was very edited for our daughter and they gave it to us as a regular salad. They were so gracious and amazing - they fixed it for us and gave it to us for free. Very impressed by the service!!!
