It was just ok. I think it was expensive for what we got. Wish we would of paid the extra 25-35 pp and got the catamaran boat and service instead. Either that or just paid for the taxi service and not the tour guides.
The captain was nice and accomadating. The boat was basic which was ok. Once they dropped us off at the island the umbrellas and coolers were set up for us, which was nice. They told us once we were ready to do the hike to let them know and we could do the snorkle trip, once the other guide returned. We explored a little bit and went to tell them we were ready for the hike. They told us they weren't ready yet because they were eating... which honestly was a bit odd. We only had a certain amount of time on the island, didnt realize we would be waiting around for them. One of the tour guides sort of had a snarky attitude the whole time the other was very nice. They provided equipment to snorkle but they do not clean or santize the snorkles and there was not enough floatation devices for everyone.
Five hours was just the right amount of time on the island. There are no bathrooms or places to buy food. We were ready to go after our five hours but the boat was late coming back to pick us up. We enjoyed the island without all the boats hanging around and loud music while we waited for our boat but we had enough sun and were ready to go, so having to wait was a bit of an...
Read moreThe captain and crew were professional, high energy, fun, light-hearted and engaging from start to finish. The crew was knowledgeable on the area, including a little history of the first lighthouse on the island and a background of how the islands came to be acquired.
On arrival we were greeted by crew members already waiting on the beach. They took us to our area that was already setup with umbrellas and stocked coolers. They were able to answer questions and provide advice about enjoying and respecting the island. The on beach crew made sure to check-in with us often and answered any questions we had. They walked the beach often to collect trash.
On either side of our group were catamarans. We thought the groups were being held in the boats, because it seemed like no one got off. They also seemed to be anchored in choppy waters. I’m so glad we didn’t go with a catamaran.
The water and view was absolutely breathtaking. We arrived on the first taxi, shortly after 8am, so the beach was clear and water was calm. As the day progressed, the water became a lot more lively with stronger and more frequent waves, but nothing concerning.
My only disappointment was not enough time on the beach. I would choose East Coast Taxi every time! You will not regret it.
*two from our group did the snorkeling and said they enjoyed and would do it again. We opted not to do the hike.

Read moreWe originally booked a more expensive catamaran with 60 people, food, booze. So glad my son-in-law found East Coast Water Taxi! We opted for the package with umbrellas, drinks, snorkeling. The crew are all very friendly and also diligent to do all the heavy lifting so you can enjoy the island. They provided more than enough water, soda, and beer. The umbrellas were perfect, 1 for every 2 people. The area they set up in was predominantly the smaller boats, smaller groups, and pretty peaceful in general. The crew is always hanging about nearby if you have questions or need anything. The walking tour through the island was interesting, but younger and older people may find part of the trek a bit challenging. Snorkeling is right off the beach and guided/monitored by one of the crew for water safety, questions, and snorkeling lessons. There were quite a few colorful fish, even schools of them swimming around you. It was fine for being part of the whole island experience, but if your main objective is snorkeling you probably want a snorkel-specific tour to Culebra or Vieques. We had an all-around great time, and I would do this again if we're back to this side of Puerto Rico. By the way... we saw those other catamarans around the corner on the beach... very glad we didn't choose them, much too raucous for our liking, and they didn't even have...
