This place has many independent kayak tour companies. We booked through kayaking Puerto Rico. I first booked through website weeks in advance but wanted to make change of time. Called them and there was no problem switching and adding one more person. I want to say first they are different than many other tour site companies. They do not simply take your money. They want you to be satisfied with the experience. Two days before the tour, they sent email saying that the bioluminescence was weak and gives us chance to back out with full refund. One day before, they sent another email saying strong wind or tide might be expected, gave us another chance to back out and get full refund if we feel not up to the challenge. We insisted going despite the low expectation warning. Glad we did. Our tour was 8:30pm. I took a picture of the 6:30 pm group, as you can see, still not dark at 6:30. When we started kayaking, it was dark, but still with 30% moon, not ideal. But once we got into the channel, we can definitely see the bioluminescence with every stroke of paddle. It’s like magic! Blue splashes! Even though there was traffic jam inside the channel, I really enjoyed the time there because the mangrove trees blocked the moonlight and it was dark enough to see the blue splashes. Once we got to the open water, the moon was too bright to see the bioluminescence. But for one moment, when the clouds covered the moon, I dipped my hands in the water and stirred the water and I can clearly see the blue waves. I was able to capture the blue waves even with my iPhone in a water resistant bag(video works better than photo). I wanted to enjoy bioluminescence on the way back in the dark channel . However the guides turned on their head lights to make sure everyone kayaking back safely. That sort of ruined the moment. I asked them to turn off but they refused, maybe because we were the last group. I understood they care the safety of the kayakers. But When we went in, the 6:30pm group came out, no guide turned on head lights even if there was traffic jam. Despite that, it was still amazing experience for me,...
Read moreThis was AWESOME! Gabriel, Louis, Angel and Joseph - my oh my! I have never done anything like this before, and I thoroughly enjoyed it! The only issue was the weather, but there is nothing for that. I do recommend something warm if you see clouds rolling in - although puerto rico is hot - in the evening with the bugs, water and the darkness, wear waterproof trousers or something & definitely a change of clothes. There are bathrooms located at the centre so after you can change in them. ALSO bug spray. I have seen many reviews saying that it wasn't as advertised and I do agree. In images, you see them a lot brighter and more frequently. However I believe that due to big buildings and bright lights, it will never be the same. The tour was very good, just don't expect to see glowing ✨️ every time you hit the water. I also do have to say that although it was overcast and we didn't see the sky, it would have been far better on a clear night. I also think that due to the sharing of the tarp it was hard to see the bio luminescent lights because you were constantly fixing the sheet above, but this was all part of the experience and I still give this 5 stars. Thanks again for the tour ECO ACTION and I will never forget...
Read moreDon't expect to see a glowing bay as promoted. I am not a kayaker, but I wanted to experience the night kayaking to see the bioluminescence waters in Puerto Rico again the way I experienced it 40 plus years ago. The big disappointment is that you really don't see the glowing waters as I would have expected. To see the glowing waters, the tour guides gathered us together and had us place a tarp over our heads and kayaks. Then, you would need to disturb the water to see a faint hint of light generated by the plankton. This is definitely not how I saw it 40 plus years ago. Also, kayaking at night is not my recommendation, but this is the only time to see the glowing bay. To get to the bay, you needed to kayak up the canal where there are mangroves around you. A few times, I ran into the mangroves because it's pitch black on the canal. The only lights are the small indicator lights on the front and back of the kayak. If you need something to do while in Puerto Rico and you want to see 1 of 5 places in the world with a glowing bay, then do it. Just remember that you will not see a glowing bay. Enjoy your stay in...
