First off. Yes it is updated and looks nice. Comfortable seating and spacious leg room, great picture and sound, which is why I'm giving 3 stars, and now for my experiences the past few times I was there. Lines...i hate lines and their new system is not eliminating them. Buying your ticket at the box office, you are asked to pick your seats while people ponder over where they want to sit taking up valuable time. I thought I could eliminate that by purchasing tickets online...you still have to stand in line at the box office to get your ticket!! There is no kiosk inside to get them and you can't print them off at home. I asked the girl tearing tickets about that and she said that if it was busy, then they will open up their customer service desk inside to print out online ticket sales. I have yet to see it open and also, how would I know to come inside versus waiting outside in line. Concession is another matter, there are two lines...one for Stubs members and one for non Stubs members. Now I did go online and sign up for the Stubs account, but really, do I need to choose between which line I'm in...I choose the shorter line always!! Now that I've ordered my popcorn and drink, I tell the cashier, I'm a stubs member and here's my barcode on my phone. "Oh, I can't do that now, I should have asked you before I rang it up if you were a member"...really!!. Yes you should have. Now after their remodel, they don't fill your drink for you, they just give you a cup to fill yourself at the drink station. That's fine, we are all used to that and it does speed up lines at the concession...I get that. I go to the drink station where I'm now standing in another line. They have put in one of those drink machines where you can only fill one cup at a time and you have a touch screen to scroll through multiple screens of different drink options...diet, flavored, with vanilla, with cherry, etc. So now you have people taking up time, trying to figure out how it works and making decisions holding up the line. They have now put in a bar that is a new addition, we were there on a Tuesday night several weeks back (it was 7:00 PM) and we were at the bar in a line with other people just looking for the bartender...none was to be seen. I had to go over to the girl tearing tickets and ask her where the bartender was. She said, "Oh, the bar doesn't open until 7:45" . What!!! That makes no sense...you have people coming to a movie at 7:00 and you don't open until 7:45?? I usually don't leave reviews but this was not just one visit to this theater...this was multiple. Something needs to be fixed here. Suggestions: Now I don't want to just complain with offering suggestions, so first off, start eliminating the guess work among your customers. Don't assign seats. first come, first serve I say. If you buy your tickets online, have a kiosk or allow printing at home so you don't have to stand in line again once you get there. Eliminate these Stubs and Non Stubs lines so I don't have to decide which one I should be in. The staff doesn't ask you anyway. Get rid of those one cup at a time coke machines and put in a line of regular drink fountains, or better yet, let the concession people fill your drink like they used to. If you are going to have a bar, open the bar before the...
Read moreRecent remodeling = a theatre complex that is clean with on- location bar; fresh popcorn made there ( not brought in as with other chains); includes a wide fountain drink & snack variety; & best: manages to deliver both 3-D & large theatres as well as cozy spaces for smaller independent films. New reclining seats include independent arm-rests, cupholders & privacy space plus leg-room between aisles, and handicapped accommodation. Most of the year, they also still manage a variety of reasonable matinees for parents to catch while kids are in school or child-friendly films for moms with younger ones in need of pre-nap movies... especially summer specials. We love their Premium programs for frequent customers too! Very tidy & safe in general. My only complaints: they used to carry more independent & hard-to-find in this area or uncut / untampered-with / special NC-17 or special showings of critically acclaimed, rare, or independent / alternate ( original) cuts of films at adult matinee times or late showings. Have not seen this as much over the past year... More repetition taking up small theaters than extra showtimes & focus on big films and too many family movies on at once ( non- holiday) over variety. My 2nd problem is purely a design issue. As an architectural historian who specializes in theatre design, I can tell you that the seats in the first three rows of most theatres are FAR TOO CLOSE to the screen to take in the image without feeling like a tennis match. Having said that, sight-lines are clear & everyone should have an easy, unblocked, & very comfortable view. Moreover... Some people like feeling that they are seated "in" the action. Many theaters offer an extra far back row for picky screen to seat ratio viewers like myself. It is still by far, the best place to watch a movie in this area when the air is cool enough in summer & not too warm in winter. Also reserved seats ticketing on-line & an accommodating staff make this our family's favorite solo, group, or meet-up-with-friends theatre! Even on weekends, they generally manage crowds well & handle problems or questions with...
Read moreI am very, very sorry to give a bad review of my only, my favorite Japanese restaurant in Fayetteville, Arkansas. My husband and I have been going to Meiji for years. We always order the same, because it is the only place where you can get piping hot, delicious miso soup, a salad with the traditional Japanese dressing, and the freshest fish for sashimi, nigiri, or rolls. This time, I took my husband there for his birthday. The whole experience was sub-par and very, very disappointing. The waiting time for someone to come to our table was unacceptable. My husband ordered hot sake, and it came out about 20 minutes after and only after reminding the waitress, and it was not as hot as it should be. The soup and the salad were brought at the same time, which should not happen either. If there is something the Japanese are good at, it is tradition. That is not the tradition. When after a long, long wait our food was brought out, the order was wrong. My husband had ordered vegetable tempura, and they brought him some fried shrimp roll. Then, the portions of sashimi were MUCH smaller than usual, and the salmon had not been skinned properly. On top of it all, the rice for the nigiri and the rolls WAS NOT FRESH. That is unacceptable. I mentioned this to the waitress. She kindly reported it to the owner, who came out to our table and listened to us. His solution: Do you want anything else? NO, we did not want anything else. We wanted some understanding and recognition that my husband's birthday dinner had been awful. I thought the owner would say, "your husband's dinner is on us," but he didn't say that, so we paid full price plus tip for a very SUB-PAR meal. Meiji, I know we are picky about food, but I lived in Japan for two years. The meal I ate at Meiji was not acceptable by Japanese standards, even in...
