I like this place, however, the people that work here are pretty rude sometimes. They have signs that say “no negotiation on price” which is very understandable since there are many different vendors and it’s just not feasible to haggle.
However, I was looking at a necklace that said “sterling silver” and thought the price was quite steep for what it was. I also thought it didn’t quite feel like silver. I recognized the lady working as the woman who prices the jewelry. I’m not sure if that’s actually true but I figured I would just ask.
I asked her if she’s sure that I can’t negotiate down the price a few dollars. She was extremely rude and condescending, and starting complaining about how no one listens to the signs posted and that it’s ridiculous that I would ask that.
I bought the necklace anyways but was very put off by her response. A simple “Sorry, no exceptions.” would have sufficed. When I got home I looked for a marking on the necklace and it actually said it was gold plated. I tested it with my metal testing kit and took it to a jeweler and it was confirmed not silver. Probably plated brass. Very disappointed with their attitude and their lack of knowledge sometimes.
Overall, I always liked this store and frequently shopped there. They have nice stuff, but I’ve had many times where I felt like the employees were being quite rude for no reason. This was the final straw for me and I haven’t...
Read moreA few weeks ago, I came across In Retrospect's Instagram post showing a pair of cow print pillows they had in their store. I did a screenshot and sent them to a friend in Texas, who shares my love for cow print, just so he could admire them, too. A few minutes later, he told me that he contacted the store, purchased them for me, and they were ready for pickup... as a happy gift. Thanks, Jack! I had never been in the store before, only admired their goods online. The pandemic has kept me home for the most part, but now I had an excuse to visit their store. As I approached the front door, I noticed that they seem to be very serious about the pandemic, with sanitizer at the door, mask required signs, and encouraged social distancing. This put me more at ease. I appreciate that and wish I could give one more star for that reason. They had my pillows ready for me, but I took some time and checked out their store. That place is a plethora of unique goodies and I was quite impressed. The prices are reasonable and fair, and if I had more time, I probably would have come home with a ton of stuff. I only wish I would have made it to their store sooner, particularly before Christmas. I definitely will be returning. PS I absolutely love the pillows. They go with my decor perfectly and are great quality. Iris was a little hesitant at first (see photo) but she has since warmed up to the pillows that kind of...
Read moreIf you have children, shop elsewhere. This is the only place I have ever heard of or visited where infants are refused entry. Masks are required for entry which was no issue and we happily abided. No one who sees their posted sign would assume that it applies to babies in their carriers. Not a single establishment I’ve ever heard of has excluded young children or infants from entering because of COVID. It’s not about being selfish, being insensitive to immunocompromised individuals, or lacking reading comprehension, just common sense. My mistake though. Sorry. That’s a new type of exclusion I had not experienced before, considering the CDC and WHO guidelines regarding COVID and infants. The shop owners do not seem to be short of rude and unprofessional comments and from what we heard from other local shop owners we talked to, they have quite the reputation around town. Good to keep in mind for our next Arkansas visit. Just a weird and uncomfortable situation. However, that’s their right. We happily spent our money at establishments that are more family-oriented...
