So, I planned a paint session for my daughter and myself to try to have some mother-daughter time before she leaves for college. We love art and are fans of Wine and Design. My daughter has a little fish pond that she started during quarantine that is special, so I was stoked to find a WD offering a fish design. I emailed the Wine and Design in Fayetteville requesting to paint the fish picture and I asked if we could share the canvas (which we have done every time we have painted at a WD). Sharing has never been an issue and it’s not about saving money, it’s about making memories and saying both of our hands and minds created this canvas. I asked if we could paint our own fish which were literally almost the same color as the example, it was just a matter of shading. I never heard from WD in Fayetteville, so I assumed all was ok.
We arrived to a RUDE manager (Jenna), who informed us that we could not personalize the painting to resemble our fish (that cost extra)…then she proceeded to tell me that only because they “just read” my email about sharing a canvas, they would allow us to share this one time, but “ IM NOT ALLOWED TO TELL ANYONE!!” Yall hear that? Don’t tell anyone. She walked away clearly aggravated and left one apron and no extra brushes for us. Kudos to the WD in Raleigh and Cary, because they have always been so kind and engaged in my little “family” requests. They have always given each person an apron and extra brushes. We have visited Raleigh and Cary on multiple occasions, and never had an issue. I have taken my whole family in the past and everyone painted their feet on a beach scene. Definitely not our first experience. SHAME on Jenna for making something very special turn into an almost walk out. My daughter and I got ready to leave without doing anything and someone came up to us and asked, “what did Jenna say?” I told her, and I told the lady, we didn’t want to do this now, we were leaving. I said it isn’t about the money (I even tried to buy another ticket on line, but their WiFi would not work; we were also upset and no one offered the WiFi passcode. They do not have a way to pay in the store). The other lady (NOT Jenna) came back with an apron. I had to talk my daughter into staying, as we were both upset. I was tearful because she was upset at how they treated both of us. We were so excited to do this class, and so disappointed at how we were treated! So, reluctantly, we stayed and eventually enjoyed our painting. Jenna NEVER showed her face. Never apologized, never did what a manager should have done!!!!! She quickly scooted out of there after we got started. I truly hope WD reviews these reviews because Ms. Jenna needs some lessons in customer service. Not only would I have paid for another one, but she didn’t offer the WiFi. She also never returned with an apron. We never got any extra brushes, but we made the best of it and we painted the fish together the way we wanted to paint them!
Now, Kara, the artist, 5 STARS!!!!! We loved her energy, eagerness, and passion for art. Kara was phenomenal and she is what made this experience, what should have been from the beginning…special. She was friendly, personable, and everything that a customer would want for a...

I paid $37.00 to paint today. Others that were painting in the same studio paid $20 to paint a picture of their own choice. The ones who paid $20 actually received more guidance/instruction than our group did. I brought 2 others with me. I have been here 3x before, and the experience gets worse each time. This will definitely be the LAST time I ever go here. I’d rather drive the hour commute to Raleigh.
The studio had 3 groups (private party upstairs), the paint your own group and the Santa’s sleigh group were both in the same tiny room. I couldn’t hear Sonja give instructions because everyone else and the music were so loud. The others in my party also had the same issue. Sonja was great! She had a great attitude and tried to do her best with what she had.
Also, one of my friends was not able to make it because her child was very sick this morning. By the way, her child is still very sick. I contacted the wine and design email address this morning a little after 0900. I also called several times trying to get someone to answer. I asked about my friends situation when I went to the studio today, and I was told I had to call Roxanne. I did. Still no answer. I did get an email back and was told that my friend would not be able to get a gift certificate or anything to be used on a future visit because it was the day of. I emailed back about my being appalled at their response.
I’m disappointed. I’ve brought 6 new customers to them, and my friend can’t even get a gift certificate to be used at a future party when she can’t help that her child became ill.

Read moreWent with my daughter. First, our class time was changed from 11:00 to 3:00 which wasn't a problem, but upon arriving, we noticed that we'd been combined into a totally different class teaching a different painting. We arrived 20 min early, as requested, but class started 20 minutes late while the teacher futzed around with canvases, still drawing outlines, switching paint colors, and generally getting ready, leaving us just sitting there bored for 40 min. When the instructor finally started, she began with the other class first, showing them how to begin painting while, once again, my daughter and I just sat there, waiting. Eventually, she told my daughter and I how to start but gave us very little instruction before once again making her way to the other side of the classroom and teaching the other painting again. We were bored, frustrated, and irritated because the teacher was very scatter-brained, kept forgetting what she was doing, and spent next to zero time instructing us. She literally said she'd never painted it before and basically it was up to our interpretation. Our paintings were terrible, just like our class, and they both went immediately into the garbage. Had I known that we were being smooshed into a different class, I would've politely declined and asked for a different day. What a waste...
