Food Lion — Local services in Fayetteville

I don’t need anyone standing next to me as I am checking out….in self checkout. Back story: Today I am grocery shopping and need more things for my crockpot meal. I notice a new flavor of truly so I’m like why not as well as me buying wine for dinner tonight. I go to self check out since I didn’t really get a lot and I have essentially sushi from a restaurant. It’s hot outside, so I’m not leaving that in the car therefore it is also in my cart with the receipt and restaurant bag. As I am scanning my items I noticed this woman is so close to me we are almost touching. We make eye contact but nothing else. When it’s time to scan my grapes the machine notifies that I will now need an assistant which is weird because…it’s grapes but ok. So then she helps with the grapes and is now closer…why? Idk but I think it is because of the wine so to make her leave I scan the alcohol so that she can check me. She ask for my license and then I’m think cool, we’re good….no for some reason she is now closer. There is a pause and then she randomly ask me if I am with instacart which I say no to and she’s like oh ok if you were I was gonna give you stickers. Idk why that even came up.idk what I did that made her think I couldn’t afford my purchases or why she felt that I was stealing but the lack of personal space is not cool. on April 21, 2025. me and my father entered food lion grocery store to purchase produce and Olives.

while doing so, I began to sneeze in the produce section (it's quite cold) my father suggested I go into the restroom to grab some tissues to blow my nose.

I agreed and walked inside. before doing so, I put a glass jar of olives into my pocket (as not to drop it or lose it) when I entered, water was all over the floor and the toilet was running.

avoiding the toilet water, I grabbed my tissue and was walking out. when a food lion employee opened the door, stuck his head inside, and called for me to come out.

I didn't know who he was or why he was calling me, but I came out and was met with another employe.

they immediately started talking to me and asking for the olives in my pocket.

I obliged and gave it to them, after which they told me I had to leave the store.

I walked away and over to my father and told him about what happened.

he confronted the employe and about it, and she said that because I had ENTERD the restroom with the olives in my pocket. I had to leave.

in summary: 1 black man, and 1 black juvenile enters food lion grocery store on Skibo road, Fayetteville Nc., and is automatically profiled by a white woman and white man. and told to leave the store.

I don’t have the food lion perhaps that’s why but they’re prices have increased quite significantly! For example I purchased Maruchan ramen noodles today and had to pay $1.74 for it when I can go to Walmart and get a pack of 12 for that. I usually do my shopping at Walmart because they have great prices and they will shop for me and load my car for a much better selection and much better prices. The only time I shop at food lion is if I’m in a rush because I live right by one. Everyone there is very knowledgeable and friendly and the lines move fast but I can’t get past their prices especially when I can get the same exact thing same name and all from Walmart for a...
