This is a delightful place to have lunch or dinner. They are frequently busy so be prepared for a wait, but it is so worth it. The restaurant is very clean and well decorated with artwork and beautifully written chalk board menus throughout the location. The wait staff is friendly and professional but also very busy, lots of hustle going on. Due to the volume of business going on here, you will not be in and out quickly. It took an hour for us to get seated, order and eat lunch. We waited about 10 minutes to get seated and it took about 20 minutes to get our food, but the ambiance of the place made it enjoyable. There is outside seating which is very relaxing. The inside is well decorated but also very loud with all the conversations going on. It was a very busy day and they were filled to capacity. My wife and I came her for our monthly Carb re-feed on our Keto Diet. There are no great Keto options here, but I would love to see some! That would definitely have us coming back frequently. We ordered the San Francisco Eggs Benedict and the Monte Cristo. The eggs Benedict came with home fries (cubed fried potatoes) and was perfectly made with slices of tomato and avocado. It was delicious! The Monte Cristo was served traditionally with raspberry jam and powdered sugar. I opted for onion rings vice fries (they failed to mention there is an up-charge for rings) and I was very disappointed in both. The ring batter had no seasoning and were somewhat charred. I think the fryer needed an oil change. The Monte Cristo looked amazing but when I started eating it I realized that all the meat and cheese was in the center and as I got past the first few bites the last three quarters of an inch of the sandwich was just fried bread. The fried breading was also flavorless so I basically just ate the middles and left the perimeters. What a disappointment. Overall it was just shy of $40 for lunch for 2 with a 20% tip. I will definitely come again when I have time for a long lunch or dinner but I would not recommend the Monte Cristo. The wait and the price were not too bad but waiting that long and paying that much for that disappointing Monte Cristo and onion rings is why I did not give 5 stars on this one. Maybe next time I come I can give 5 stars if I order...
Read moreWe are visiting from out of town. Just googled breakfast resteraunt near me and Metro Diner popped up. This was our second meal in town and the first one did not leave me hopeful. METRO DINER, YOU BROUGHT THE BEST FOOD EVER!!! Thank you for restoring my hope of food in this city! Our server Sami was AMAZING, so helpful in narrowing down our choices. I ordered the chicken n waffle Sami let me know that if I wanted the special blueberry/lemon with cream cheese drizzle I could get that one with my chicken. YES PLEASE!!! As we are waiting for our food, Sami comes by and puts some hot sauce in a bowl then some maple syrup and mixed it ...tells me "don't judge just try at least one bite before forming an opinion", ok sure I'm game. Fried chicken n waffle came...waffle so yummy and fresh light lemon tasting. Ok now the chicken!!! THE MOST AMAZING FOOD COMINATION I HAVE EVER HAD!!! I told my husband if this is what the food is like, I can eat here for the rest of our time here. He had a HUGE chicken pot pie which was amazing as well. Sami tells us if we like the breakfast food we should come back again for dinner....and we did! Dinner was a huge bowl of pot roast that just melted in your mouth. Thank you for being and AMAZING place to eat. Both our servers were amazing, The manager (I'm guessing) noticed we were back on the second day and rememberd us and stopped by. They took great care of us and the food is to die for. Apparently Guy Fieri has also featured the Jacksonville location of this establishment and loved it, I bet he would feel the same way about this location. Thank you for a wonderful time and new flavor introductions. Glad I ordered enough to take home to...
Read moreI ordered a breakfast for my family and my son got the bissell breakfast. I ordered through DoorDash and when my food came the bag was sealed with my sons plate at the bottom of the bag. I open it to get it ready for him and notice red dots on the pancakes so Iâm thinking maybe theyâre Halloween pancakes, when I start to cut into them I smell something spicy, coke to find out itâs hot sauce on my sons pancakes, dabs of hot sauce. I call the store to let them know what happened and before I could let them know I was going to reorder the manager HALEY gets on the phone and says âwhy would we put hotsauce on pancakesâ and hangs up. I called back and said that I wasnât even saying it was on purpose Iâm just letting you know it happened so you can watch out for it, she then tells me they donât do that and hung up again. I donât eat spicy food or hotsauce so there isnât any in my house. The bag was sealed when it got here so it wasnât DoorDash. I called back to get corporates number and was giving the wrong number. I havenât had metro dinner in a long time but I usually enjoy this place, after this experience I canât see my self or family dealing with this restaurant anymore. Management is unprofessional and for some reason the cooks are putting hotsauce on...
