The restaurant could be great but I find several faults keeping this restaurant from attracting more repeat clients. The food is okay on someday and horrible on others. The menu lacks options in some areas. Not a big selection of sides and needs more variety. Prices have increased on certain items significantly and the quality of the food coming out doesn't justify it. For example the price of wings went up but they come out overcooked or over seasoned. The twisted tinders are the same price but are cut in half or smaller than before. Often the fried food comes out horrible because the oil isn't changed but once a week. I have complained to the GM Harold previously and still had to pay for the food I didn't eat and he was completely rude about it. I made the comment to a friend that I was just gonna go get Waffle House which he overheard and said hope they have better wings. I have witnessed several times him talking rudely to customers and employees. The other 3 managers are pretty good and seem to care somewhat. If I were to rate them in order it would be Mike #1, Brian #2, Kathy #3, Harold #4. Even though I have had several bad experiences I continue to come back because of the staff. I typically sit at the bar. The bartenders are generally kind and attentive. There is a couple that I feel that shouldn't be behind the bar. The top bartenders are Erin, Hayley Blue, and Eric. The other Haley is nice but lacks in social skills and isn't very fast paced. It takes awhile to get a drink if it is busy. My personal opinion is that Erin is the best bartender overall and I believe Erin would make a great manager. She is knowledgeable, sociable, attentive, stays focused and actually cares what happens in the restaurant. Erin is an overlooked asset to Old Chicago by far wish someone would look at her for a management position. As far as waitress go the seem to get the job done for the most part. They tend to disappear when the crowd is slim leaving the bartenders to pickup the slack. It would seem that the bartenders take the beating most often. They bartend for the bar and floor, run their own food and wash their own glasswear. I really don't understand why they wouldn't have food runners for them and have someone fill in to wash glassware when it's a busy night. To summarize everything, changes in management need to be made. Fire Harold and if you promote from within Mike would be my top pick. The cooks need more training to make the quality of food better although it has improved slightly in the last couple months more options should be added to the menu. Bartenders should probably get a pay increase and a little more help behind the bar on busy nights. Managers could foster a better environment for employees and should be promoting team work within the work place. Lots of potential but needs the right people in...
Read moreThe menu is a veritable love letter to Chicago’s diverse culinary landscape. As a pizza aficionado, I was blown away by their signature deep-dish pizza. The crust, perfectly golden and slightly crisp, cradles a generous filling of gooey cheese and robust tomato sauce, harmoniously balanced with fresh toppings. Each bite is a delightful explosion of flavors, a testament to the kitchen's dedication to quality and authenticity.
But Old Chicago’s offerings extend far beyond their legendary pizza. The beer selection is a craft beer enthusiast’s dream, featuring an extensive array of local brews and international favorites. The knowledgeable staff are more than happy to guide you through the selection, ensuring you find the perfect pairing for your meal.
The appetizers are equally impressive. The Italian nachos are a standout, combining the comfort of traditional nachos with a unique Italian twist, featuring layers of crispy pasta chips, melted cheese, and spicy sausage. Their Buffalo wings are cooked to perfection, boasting a crispy exterior and tender, juicy meat inside, drenched in a tangy, spicy sauce that leaves you craving more.
Old Chicago’s commitment to quality extends to their service as well. Every visit feels personal, with staff going above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining experience. Whether you’re there for a casual meal with friends, a family gathering, or a romantic dinner, the atmosphere is always welcoming and vibrant.
In a city brimming with dining options, Old Chicago stands out not just for its exceptional food, but for its unwavering dedication to providing an unforgettable dining experience. It’s more than a restaurant; it’s a celebration of Chicago’s rich culinary heritage, and a place that feels like home every time you walk through the door. If you’re looking to indulge in the best of what Chicago has to offer, look no further than Old Chicago.
Eric Carter is the best manager, he served us during our visit to old Chicago and he was spectacular. He isn’t just a manager he’s family and friends to everyone there, he knows everyone and he treats everyone like family. My overall experience...
Read moreThis is a review that is a long time in coming. I will start off by saying our server, will, was surprisingly amazing. After years of seeing him on the door as a host, his waisted talents have come to a true fruition. He's knowledgeable, he's caring, he's interactive, he's entertaining, and he is definitely better on the floor than at a door saying "Hi welcome to Old Chicago!". The food was good. Tonight was DJ bingo. Even though we weren't playing because we had come to watch the Stanley cup playoffs first game, the OC team was more than accommodating in making sure that we had the best view of the game. The only reason that this is not a five-star review is because their liquor selection was extremely limited (given it is a military payday) and the bartender was not very helpful with alternatives. I'm sorry to tell you people but anybody who knows anything about tequila knows that Jose is not a middle shelf option. We asked for three other different shots and all three of them were not available (Hennessy, Maker's Mark, peppermint schnapps). But this did not end our night on any bad notes. It has been an amazing night and a pleasure. If they get their liquor selection straight, I will change it to a five star in a heartbeat. But if you have the opportunity to have Will as your server, consider yourself lucky. He was definitely a hidden gem that they finally are allowing to...
