We recently decided we were going to try and purchase most of our food items for the week from the local farmer's market to support local, small businesses during these pandemic times. While this is indeed a fairly small market, everything that we need for the week can be purchased here (with the exception of milk and other dairy products). We love the following exhibitors: JD Beef for ground beef, ribeyes, and NY strip (all grass-fed angus beef from Georgia), Upstream Seafood for Alaskan wild-caught salmon, Great Harvest Bread Company for a morning scone while shopping, Me, Myself and Pies for some delicious hot and cold pies (pre-ordering is now their primary method of ordering via their website), Bacon Select Produce for the best salad dressing and crispy greenhouse greens, Ferra's Bakery for a great loaf of sourdough bread, the Spice Pantry for excellent dry-rubs and seasonings of all kinds, both produce vendors have fresh and flavorful fruit and veggie options, and so many more that we've yet to explore. You can pick up orchids, plants for the home/small landscaping, etc. We typically arrive and leave between 9:00-9:30AM, and it is already bustling with people, though not nearly has crowded as it becomes by 10:00-11:00AM. Go early, get the best selection, and most importantly- get to know the local exhibitors who are lovely and passionate about their food...
Read moreWe love going to the market every weekend. We have had many pleasant experiences in the. Most of the vendors are very nice and friendly.
This past weekend we didn’t have a very good experience with one of the vendors. The produce stand in the middle is one we always visit and purchase strawberries. I waited patiently in line because it was busy. I wanted to buy strawberries. The people before me bought most of the half flats that were out. There was one left but the strawberries didn’t look the greatest. I told the older gentleman that I wanted strawberries. He said ok. I was waiting for the other guy to bring up more to the front table. The older gentlemen asked me what I wanted again and I said I was waiting for the strawberries. He told me to go to the back of the stand to get them from the other guy at the truck/trailer because I was holding up his line. I am a little picky but when I am paying $18 for a half flat of strawberries, I want a majority of them to be edible. This gentleman was very rude by pretty much telling me to get out of the way so he could make money from other customers. I probably won’t visit that...
Read moreThe 5⭐️ is for African Love Kitchen! Oh my. We wandered passed and was a little peckish so we tried one of each, chicken, veggie & beef sambusas. Let me preface this with; I am a private chef, a huge foodie and came to Amelia Island for restaurant week.... THESE WERE THE BEST THINGS WE HAD ALL TRIP!! (Literally, the restaurants we dined at didn’t come close to this tastiness!)
We absolutely kicked ourselves we only got one of each. It’s been a couple weeks and I have not stopped thinking about them. Absolutely delicious!! I wish I had some right now.
Quite a small farmers market in number of vendors however it was winter 🤷♀️. It’s located amongst the super cute downtown area and looked to be...
