Racism is alive and well in this park! I walked my dog around this park, and had no problems during the first half of the walk. We walked to the lake's edge since I saw some other people were around there taking pictures. Even saw some people walking their dog past the lake and on the boardwalk. While walking back from the lake's edge, who I presume to be the groundskeeper on his utility vehicle pulled up near us and yelled out that we were not allowed past that point. Which I understood as the other bridge did have a sign that said that past the lake is closed off. But instead of driving towards the people on the closed-off section, he parks by the parking lot and I noticed he's keeping an eye on me as I walk around. I didn't think much of it, but when I went to sit on a bench out of his sight, he circled around to where I was, looked for me again, then re-parked his vehicle in the same spot, but moved enough so that he could continue to keep his eye on me. This time it struck me as odd, but I brushed it off again. Finally, as we were getting ready to leave, he started closing the gates and as he passed by to close the other side, he called out, just loud enough so only I could hear, that the park was closing, but he never said the same to the people who were also on the sidewalk at the time. That's when I noticed that the sky was still very much blue and not a tinge of orange was in it, so dusk was not approaching at all. The park was beautiful, but it did have trash and such in lots of places, so maybe instead of harassing someone just enjoying the park, he probably should've been doing his job. I'll still come back, since it is a free country, but I will be more wary of this groundskeeper's...
Read moreThis is such a beautiful peaceful park hidden behind a very busy shopping center. Paved walking trails circle a small pond full of wildlife. There are also gardens, sculptures, an outdoor classroom, and signs telling you about the wildlife and plants you could see. They have water stations conveniently located throughout the trails but be sure you have your own cup or bottle as there aren't any provided. Lots of picnic shelters with grills and nice restroom facilities at the entrance.
They used to not allow pets here but have since changed the policy to on leash dogs. Please follow the rules and pick up after your pet so they aren't forced to change it back. They provide stations for dog poop throughout the trails as well.
As an added bonus this park is on the soon to be expanded bike trail that will eventually connect it to the spillway and reservoir trails. While the park doesn't allow biking on the trails inside the park it does have a bike rack so you can park rest...
Read moreI've lived in this area for several years, and never knew such a beautiful park was back behind the picnic area you see from Flowood Drive. That's very nice, too, but the trail area is absolutely gorgeous! The trails are very handicap-accessible, too. I took my scooter. There are benches, water stations, and doggie cleanup bags. There's a bridge, a pond with a huge fountain, and beautiful natural and landscaped areas. We went after work, and there were quite a few runners, walkers, and dog walkers. Everyone was very considerate of me being on the scooter. It means so much to be able to go out in an area like that, and enjoy...
