Earlier this morning I met a girlfriend for bruch. I have been to this establishment many times and have had an enjoyable experience. Today unfortunately was anything but enjoyable. We were seated promptly upon our arrival. I decided to treat myself and order an Irish Coffee as it was my day off. A typical Irish coffee has 1 oz of whiskey and 6 ozs of coffee with a splash of Irish cream. When my drink arrived the miniature coffee mug it came in wasn't even big enough to hold 7 ozs of anything. The top third of the mug was foam. The rest was a small amount of coffee (maybe it was very watery) and maybe a splash of whiskey?? I took one sip and thought oh this is bad. I stirred the drink up thinking that would help but no still completely disappointed. Not to mention this drink cost $11.25! I set the drink aside and told the server please take this back it's terrible and asked if he could just please bring me an unsweet iced tea. I also had ordered toast, 1 fried egg and avocado as I wasn't too hungry. The total cost for my order would have been $4.77 and if you add in the iced tea at $3.25 it should have been $8.03 plus tax. So maybe $9.00 total. My check arrives. I was still charged for the Irish Coffee and my total was $17 and some change. When the servier arrived back to our table I asked him to please remove the drink from my tab. He responded with we can't take an alcohol charge out of our system?? I said ok can I please speak with someone who can help me. Johnny arrives at our table I explained the situation and he gave me the same answer. We can't remove alcohol from the system. I said sir I'm not paying for a drink that I didn't like or that I didn't drink. He rudely replied yes you did I saw the drink. Insinuating I was just trying to stiff him! I told him yes I had two sips. Then I said ok why don't you just remove the food items and we'll call it a day. He angrily snatched the ticket and rushed off. Mind you I'm feeling completely embarrassed at this point. He returns and quickly says I discounted the food items, set the ticket down and rushes off. I look at the tab and now my order is $21!!! The poor server returns and once again I told him this is incorrect please have this fixed. Finally the tab arrived for the third time and the total is $14.40?? Unbelievable! I have been in multiple customer service management positions and would never treat anyone so poorly. This was by far the worst customer service I have ever received. At this point I just paid the tab and gave the poor server a $5 tip. I also requested the owner's information from Johnny who gave me his email. I asked for a phone number but he refused which I totally understand. I personally wouldn't want my phone number given out either. I have emailed the owner. Hopefully I will get a response so I can update this review.
Update to my previous 1 star review: This morning I did received a phone call from the owner (it was very much appreciated). He was very kind and did express regardless of the situation it should have been handled differently. I was a little concerned to hear that the $5 tip I wrote on the ticket had not been applied. I hope that the tickets are saved so the server does receive his tip. Thank you again George I do appreciate the call back. I will return to Another Broken Egg but will definitely call ahead and if Johnny is the manager on duty I unfortunately will make...
Read moreMy husband and I have been regular patrons at this establishment, particularly when Bre was bartending. While my husband continued to visit frequently, this morning marked our first time returning together in some time. We sat at the bar as usual, and our bartender, Synchrony, initially displayed polite behavior. However, when my food arrived and was overly salty, the situation quickly took a turn for the worse.
Upon raising my concern with Synchrony, she offered a 10% discount on both my meal and my husband’s, stating that this was all the manager authorized. I expressed confusion, as the issue was specifically with my meal, and I questioned why the discount was applied to both orders. I requested to speak with the manager, to which Synchrony responded dismissively, indicating that he would merely repeat what she had said.
The manager, an older white gentleman, appeared and claimed that he was unaware of any discount being applied. He then made an inappropriate comment, which I did not fully understand, suggesting that I was behaving as though I wanted to sample a steak before purchasing it. He proceeded to discard our receipt and ominously stated that if we did not want to pay, he would call the police.
After waiting an additional 20 minutes, my husband inquired with Synchrony about our receipt. She informed us that she had no knowledge of the situation and suggested that we take it up with the manager. She further implied that if we chose to leave without paying, that was our decision. It felt as though they were deliberately trying to provoke a situation where the police would be called. My husband reassured her that we had every intention of paying for the food we had consumed, and Synchrony reluctantly reprinted our receipt.
Upon reviewing the receipt, I noticed discrepancies related to my meal and sought clarification. Synchrony, visibly frustrated, snatched the receipt from my hands and attempted to explain where my meal appeared on the bill. When I asked her to refrain from being rude, she tossed the receipt in the trash and told us to leave and never come back, adding that if I couldn’t afford the food, I should simply admit it. She then stated that she was going to call the police because we had been at the bar for over 45 minutes. I responded by telling her to go ahead.
To make matters worse, Synchrony and the manager did indeed contact the police, claiming that my husband and I were arguing with one another. The officers informed us that this was not the first instance of this restaurant involving law enforcement over customer disputes.
Given the significant amount of money we have spent at this location, the treatment we received from Synchrony and the manager was appalling. As a result, we will not...
Read moreOk, not going to complain about 45 minute wait or how incredibly loud the place is on a church Sunday. But we ordered an appetizer and when we got it, she didn't bring plates for the 4 of us so I asked her to. When she brought the plates I could see the food on the plates before she sat them down. 2 of the plates had actual food chunks on them. Sent them back and got clean ones. I ordered a burger with a poached egg. Menue says burger comes with lettuce onions tomatoe. Did not get any of that r the egg and there was no condiments of any kind so I had to wait for her to come back through and ask for mayo and my veggies for burger. My first mayo pack came out looking like it was 10 years old. Second one came back ok. I scrapped off the first one and showed it to her so she got me some more and was told to wait and see if I was satisfied with mayo. Passive aggressive move but I know she was told yo do it. When my wife's food came out her plate had food stuck on the bottom and mine had smudges on it. My wife's eggs in the scramble bowl looked like the powdered eggs I used to make when we were on WIK so many years ago. Can't be for certain but they didn't look anything like fresh scrambled eggs. I do not recommend this place. I am sure if there was a healthy management team there we never would have gotten out of there without someone apologizing for all our troubles. Won't ever go back. I have pictures of old mayo and food on bottom of wife's plate buy not sure how...
