Took the holiday lights tour and would not recommend this for young children or for kids with special needs. About $100 for my son, husband, and myself I feel should be refunded and the company should take responsibility for the aggression displayed by a staff member, this Christmas eve. My son acts noticeably different and does not respond great to social cues and was yelled at by a staff member for going down the stairs wrong and the staff member was trying to grab my child. When he couldn't catch him, the staff member yelled more. I understand the irritation, but there's no warning on the website that the tour may be inappropriate for those under a certain age or for those with disabilities. I'd recommend sensitivity training or at least a talk about customer service and how to speak to guests if there is a problem. Before getting into it with a 4 year old, maybe pull aside the parent in private or speak to the parent in general because I asked the staff member what the problem was and he continued to try to discipline my son and I was ignored. When I asked again louder, "what is the problem" the man sighed, rolled his eyes, walked away murmuring under his breath "the kid thinks he can do whatever he wants" and then he opened the side gate and exited, as we were docking and he had already demonstrated he did not want to communicate with me and took his easy out. My parents have taken every guest they've had on this cruise for years and this Christmas was no different for them; we accepted the invite but it was most definitely the most frustrating experience of the season and I know as regulars, my parents were also incredibly disappointed with the treatment of...
Read moreI have lived in Fort Lauderdale for the past ten years, and yesterday my Sister and her Husband returned from a cruise and spent the day with us before their flight home that evening. My favorite thing to share with out-of-town guests is the Carrie B cruise because you have not experienced the real Fort Lauderdale until you have seen it from the water. Our City Seal does not read "Venice of American" without reason. From the moment we boarded they were impressed with the quality of this comfortable and spotless vintage vessel as the sun reflected through the sparkling clean ship's windows on the cool lower deck, making it a great place to stop at the full bar and enjoy a quality hot dog with all the dressings, and other tasty treats. As the Captain executed a masterful 180-degree turn mid-river and headed out, we found a comfortable spot on the upper deck which offered us seating choices with of both full-sun for some and plenty of shade for others. As we passed along some of the most spectacular mansions and mega-yachts we were treated to the delightful and informative Captain's comments based on his local knowledge. No matter how many times I go, it seems I appreciate the Carrie B more each time. This is no tourist trap; rather it is an authentic waterfront experience that has over the years become well established as a Fort Lauderdale institution. Why else would my hard to please brother-in-law say it was "the highlight of his...
