I’m still very depressed about how humiliated I was by management at the pool area on my 30th birthday. My spouse book us a 2 night stay at Delmar for my birthday just so I can wine down, relax, and get a little home away from home and work time off. The day of my birthday June 9th I went down by the pool, had a drink and took a swim. As I was leaving the pool I seen a manager instructing an employee to wheel out the gelato machine. I seen they placed it in front of a group of older women. So I ask the bartender if the gelato was complimentary to all the guest at the pool area. He said yes, and pointed in the direction motioning me to go enjoy. So as a content creator I ask my spouse to get footage of me walking to the gelato machine where the employee started to serve the group of older women. As I got over there I stood at a respectful distance from where the older women was lounging at to wait for the employee to serve them the small sample size gelato. The women began to look at me as if I was somewhere I didn’t belong. These women are a different race then I, but that wasn’t my first thought because I never experienced anything of that nature before especially in 2024 or at a “luxury establishment” where we all paid the same amount of green money to enjoy a stay. I started to feel so uncomfortable as if me standing there was wrong and a bother to those guest, thinking maybe the bartender was wrong the gelato was personally for the older women. The manager wasn’t nothing but 3 feet away so I ask him also was the gelato complimentary to all the guest. He explained yes, so I turn back around to patiently wait on the employee who was now at this point finishing up scooping and handing the last older women their gelato. The women are still staring and you can feel their energy has shifted like why is this black girl standing by our area. Not a minute goes by and the manager comes to me and says go have a seat and wait for the employee to come to you in front of the older women to over hear as if I was a child or the unwanted black girl bothering the older women of another race and their gelato machine as if it was personally theirs. As I stated in the beginning I was leaving the pool area why would I go sit. I felt so humiliated. It was as if the manager sense what was going on and made it his duty to make me more uncomfortable and make them feel more privilege by telling me to go have a seat and I will be serve after the older white women are serve the complimentary gelato. I felt so disgusted because I never been treated that way and then to be treated that way on my birthday at a place me and my spouse spent the same amount of money as those older women is insane. I just calmly walked off and I no longer wanted the gelato I just wanted to burst out into tears. I spoke with the lobby area associates about my concerns and experience. A manager came and just kept saying sorry and offer to get the gelato for me but my whole experience was already ruined and i honestly was ready to check out, but I tried my hardest to stay positive and enjoy the rest of my birthday. I hope future guest of my race is not treated this way. Don’t think I’ll book with Delmar again.
*This second half is a response to Carlos Salazar Managing Director. The compensation can’t make up for how I felt and the racism experience I encounter with you guys. You think those small amounts can make up for it? My feelings and experience just didn’t vanish because you gave a compensation you could have kept. And your response came off as if I was looking for further compensation. Just rude and tasteless. I simply came on here to share my experience regardless of the small compensation that was given once again you guys could have kept, and after offending me you follow up with a more offensive response by making it seem as if I wanted more...
Read moreI absolutely loved my stay at this hotel! Without any exaggeration, I can say that it is perfect! The hotel is brand new and modern, meeting all of today’s high standards. The hotel shares the building with some other businesses. You need to take an elevator to get to the hotel’s lobby, but it’s easy to find, and you won’t get lost. Plus, the sweet people who work on the ground floor are always happy to help you. The hotel’s lobby is absolutely beautiful! It’s wonderfully designed. Even if you arrive a few hours before check-in, or need to wait for a few hours after check-out, it’s a pleasure to relax in the lobby on the comfortable sofas and play with your gadgets. My check-in was super fast and easy. The front desk guy was super sweet to me, and the entire front desk staff was nice and friendly throughout my stay. I got a room on a high floor with a stunning city skyline view. My room (#2105) was very spacious and spotlessly clean. All the furniture was new and in great condition. The room’s design was very nice, and I felt super comfortable staying there. I loved the big panoramic window, which let in lots of natural daylight. My room was well soundproofed - I heard almost no noise from the hallway. The room had all the necessary amenities. The two Queen beds were super comfortable! I slept like a baby! There was an iPad in the room from which I could control a lot of the room’s features and connect with the front desk to request services. I absolutely loved the bathroom! It was very spacious, and I appreciated that the toilet was separated from the bath area by a small wall. The bathtub was pretty big and deep, and almost fit all of me (I’m 6’ tall). The bathroom amenities were of high quality and smelled very nice. The only minus was the lack of a toilet brush, but that’s really it! Wi-Fi worked super fast during my entire 4-night stay. The only questionable aspect of this hotel is its location. It’s definitely far from the beach area, so you would need to take a taxi to reach the beach. Also, there isn’t much around the hotel. The area is mostly residential (and not in the best condition, to be completely honest), with some parts still under construction. However, the plus side is that the hotel is not too far from the Fort Lauderdale Brightline train station if you arrive/depart by Brightline train. I personally walked to the hotel from the station with just a backpack, and it took me only 15 minutes; easy! Additionally, the hotel is close to a very nice riverside area with many shops and restaurants. Walking there takes about 10 minutes along one main street. So, the hotel’s location really depends on your goals in Fort Lauderdale. Did I like it? To be completely honest, not really. In conclusion, I absolutely recommend this hotel for a stay in Fort Lauderdale. You’ll enjoy the highest quality and feel very comfortable throughout your stay, just like I did. But keep the location in mind! If your goal is a beach vacation and you want to be close to the beach, this hotel may not be the best...
Read moreI don’t usually like to leave these kind of reviews, but the staff at this After confirming that we would only be charged a $100 insidental hold on our Amex. They ended up charging us the full amount of the stay. When I call to pomplain they did not even bother to apologize. After checking in we got together with our friends and headed down to the Lobby restaurant to enjoy a couple of drinks together. After having received the bill. We were charged for multiple items that we did not consume. This was addressed immediately. Once we left there we went down to the 1st floor to head up to the Sparrow (rooftop) there we were greeted by 3 staff members one of which was extremely nasty and rude. I was wearing short and he told me in a very nasty tone that I wouldn’t be permitted to go in because I wasn’t dressed properly. He made me feel extremely upset. Once one of the other staff members saw the way I was treated. He approached me, and kindly explained that, that venue had a dress code and that if I had anything else I could switch into he would gladly let me in. I was fine with the explanation he gave me so I went ahead and went up to my room and changed to something more appropriate. When I went back downstairs I asked the man that treated me disrespectfully who he was, I advised that I would be reporting him to corporate. He said he didn’t care what I did. That he was the head of security and that they would back him up. In other words, he could do and treat anyone how he wanted and that the hotel management and corporate office would be ok with this. After him having ruined my night we decided to go elsewhere. The following day we went to have breakfast at the sparrow. We went exactly at 11AM when they opened. We were immediately turned down for service because we didn’t have a reservation. Even though I checked online and they had multiple reservation slots available. After I showed the hostes that they still had availability online. She gave us a nasty look and seated us. I don’t know what she ended telling our server, but our server changed midway through our time there and the Spanish lady was extremely nice to us. We are Hispanic, we have lived in the U.S for many years! In fact we are U.S. citizens. We have money to spend wherever we please. I along with all our friends felt a huge sense of descrimination in this hotel and the staff made us feel extremely uncomfortable! If this review gets nowhere I will contact corporate directly to file...
