First off, let me start by saying I went for my birthday and it was our first time going thanks to TikTok. My husband and I were more than excited to eat at this place. The atmosphere was very nice. It was dim lit, the comfortable booth seating was a plus. They had the table lights on every table music playing not too loud just right for the environment. However, if I have to critique anything, it would be people not following the dress code, and though this says nothing for the restaurant because they still accommodated people, although they were not dressed appropriately. The bathrooms were very clean also for those that don’t like to use public bathroom like myself.
The service was top tier, I felt like I was welcome and it felt like a family vibe. Our server was Joey and Joey is invited to the cookout lol. Joey cracked jokes with us and explained everything in great detail, he also helped me make some food and drink choices because some of yall on Tik Tok was bashing some of the drinks and food options. And to the young lady who offered me such a lovely compliment upon being seated at our table I appreciate you boo!
Now let’s get into this food. To start off for appetizers, my husband had a Caesar salad which he said was very delicious. Everything tasted very fresh. I had the Italian Crabcake, which had a spicy tomato sauce with fennel and arugula which was one of the best crabcakes I’ve had and I’ve had a lot of crabcakes at different places and it is definitely in my top three. For drinks my husband started off with an old fashioned which was smoked and topped with pecans and bacon, and I started with a passion margarita, it was quite delicious. I also had the purple Peacock, which a lot of people did not like I just think it depends on your pallet. I enjoy the purple peacock. It was a hint of lavender. It wasn’t overpowering, and it actually was sweeter than I thought it was gonna be and my husband and I both tried the rosé sparkling sangria. It had an actual sweet hibiscus in the drink raspberry and a grapefruit, and it was really refreshing. For entrees this is where it got a little big back-ish we ordered, the Spicy Rigatoni, Lasagna Bolognese, Chicken Parmesan, and Herb-Crusted Salmon. Now for me my least favorite was the Spicy Rigatoni but only because it was more spice than seasoning. My husband however loved it. My husband also said the Chicken Parm was so flavorful and they used fresh Parm and Mozzarella which made it feel like someone’s mom was cooking in the kitchen. The Lasagna Bolognese was packed with some much flavor I was in absolute heaven, it had ample sauce and no part of it was dry or lacking in any aspect of the dish. Lastly, for entrées was the herb crusted salmon, and it was my favorite. I mean I’m biased to salmon because I really love salmon, but this salmon was so good. What ever the crust was on top of the salmon was delicious squeezing that lemon on there just brought out even more flavor, there was no fishy taste. It was just good eating.
For dessert we chose from the tarot cards to determine what we would get which was a great experience. The cards choose A Espresso Martini, Tiramisu, and the Tableside Bomboloni. All three were absolutely amazing. It’s hard to pick a favorite, but if I had to pick a favorite, I probably would go with the Tableside Bombolini. Overall, all of the portion sizes were very reasonable and we did not have to add any seasonings to anything. Joey made our experience more than what we could have imagine. It was a very good birthday dinner for me and I got complimentary ice cream for my birthday as well. It was a great experience and we will definitely be returning...
Read moreThe interior is chic with dark wood and Art Deco stylings and wallpaper to match the vibe. The decor throughout has a very dark, old world vibe while maintaining its upscale feel. As you enter the bar to the left, and interestingly, there’s very little dress code (if any) to be in that area. The main dining room does not allow hats, sleeveless shirts, or flip-flops. I found this interesting considering there were casual buttondowns in the bar as well as flip-flops when you entered. But nonetheless, they do enforce the dress code in the main dining room…albeit only separated by a decorative wall you can see right through with the restrooms positioned at the back of the dining room.
Our waitress reviewed the menu with us so that we understood their recommendation which is to have one of the meat plates along with a pasta dish or perhaps pick one of those two to share.
To start, we decided to have meatballs, a loaf of focaccia, and the burrata. It’s worth noting that this menu changes each month slightly so a particular plating may not be available the next month. This month it was a pistachio butter along with the burrata which was absolutely delicious. We also had meatballs, while they were tasty there was nothing too special about them and the plating was very basic compared to most of the other dishes.
For a main course, I chose to have cacio y pepe or as I refer to it cacio no pepe. While the dish was quite tasty I don’t believe there was much, if any, pepper in the dish. Our table also decided to get the sausage and peppers as well as the chicken parmesan. The plating on the chicken parmesan was absolutely beautiful, the flavor and taste was quite ordinary. A very thin pounded chicken cutlet compared to the significant amount of cheese and sauce. The sausage and peppers were very tasty. It was served over a creamy polenta which was maybe the best thing of the night.
At this point, we were truly enjoying the food. However, we got to a point where our waitress had not been back, we had no water and our cocktails were totally empty. It took a few minutes before I could even flag someone down and I pointed out that we had no drinks whatsoever on the table. Then upon reordering a round, I learned they had run out of the juice or mixer required to make the cocktail I had earlier, so unfortunately I had to change drinks at that point. This was all a bit frustrating, but I will say that after that the waitress was more attentive and we hadn’t made a big complaint it was a simple request.
After this, we decided to go for dessert. Their display is very cute and I won’t ruin it, but perhaps rather than prepping the dessert menu the way they do their service could be a bit more consistent.
For dessert, we opted for tiramisu which I’ve had before. It never lets down and is absolutely delicious. It’s definitely worthwhile.
Overall, the food is quite tasty. From a service perspective, you’ll have a generally good experience here. You have a mix of families as well as couples and gatherings of friends. Most people are dressed for a night out downtown, while some of the families are a bit more relaxed if they have their college or teenage kids with them.
And one last thing to add, but we did not order it. There is always a special cheese wheel item. They make it at the table and it’s a unique experience that many tables take advantage of. Essentially, they toss the pasta with the cheese in the cheese wheel in front of you. Perhaps you’ll try it on your next venture there!
Strong 3 of 5 star recommendation overall. Give it a go!

Read moreWe made reservations here after a surprise proposal. Upon arrival to the restaurant everything was good. The greeting & seating was welcoming & professional. We ordered our food with our waiter Will. Each guests ordered the ribeye with mash potatoes or mac & cheese. Our food arrived however, the only thing that came was the ribeye with NO sides. We sat patiently for a moment thinking our waiter was coming back with them. We then asked for someone to get our waiter. He came to the table & we asked where were the sides? He said give him a moment they should be up. He walked to the back and didn't come back for a while. When he returned he said the kitchen made a mistake. They will be out soon. How do you take guests orders and then bring food but not all the food? So as we sat waiting for the sides to eat with the ribeyes, the ribeye got cold. I asked the waiter Will what can be done to help this situation? He said he will take the sides off the bill. I said that is a given however how are we supposed to enjoy dinner with cold ribeye? He said he does apologize but it was the kitchen who made a mistake. I find it an issue to place blame on the kitchen staff instead of saying I forgot to put the order in and I will take care of it. Then to walk back pass & say I took care of the sides on the bill not because of the kitchen but because of the celebration. Are you kidding me? Will not bring my out if town guests here again. (2 star rate was given).
Update: Went back here November 3rd sometime to accept the apologies of boss man/manager Joe. He reached out after reading my 1st review (stated above) & offered his apologies & sent a gift card. We took Joe up on his offer & came back in. Of course upon arrival we were greeted by a smiling face who was very nice & professional. We were seated immediately. Joe did not hesitate to walk with us to our table. He sent over the best waiter & made sure he came to check on us upon the delivery of our meals and beverages. It is safe to say that because of Joe he has redeemed our trust within his establishment. I appreciate a manager who takes responsibility for his staff's actions & finds ways to fix the issues at hand. Joe was definitely a great man to meet who is truly about his business. And since then we have been back on 11/19/18 to take a Detroit family member there and Gene our server was phenomenal! So it's safe to say we will be visiting more often. Thanks Joe, you are the MAN! Now I can rate this...
