Do not live here as you will regret it! Yes, it is a little cheaper than most buildings downtown but they charge you a minimum of $1,000 a year to park your car ($1,000 is for the far north lot, $1500 for east lot, $3000 for inside parking garage). Juan and Charles are absolute jerks who are awful when it comes to customer service and updates with building changes. The security is very disrespectful. I was cussed out by a security guard because someone had parked in my spot and he wasn't going to assist. The amenities are always under repair or never cleaned i.e. the pool and hot tub. The gym is very lacking, and the walls are paper thin, you can literally hear everything going on next door (even phone conversations) and if you live on the first floor good luck sleeping in on weekends as the garbage truck comes every morning at 7am and is impossible to sleep through. Last but not least as it is the most important LionStar properties and Mckafka are absolute nightmares to work with. If something breaks in your apartment, good luck getting it fixed. Our washing machine leaked water and they tried to blame it on us. The dryer ripped holes in our clothes, so it was completely unusable, the dishwasher didn't even properly clean the dishes. When I would make maintenance request I was threatened (over a broken towel rack). The building is over 25 years old and that's how old our appliances were....
Read moreI had a terrible experience dealing with the manager Myrtle and the HOA. They discriminated against me and my girlfriend and our service dogs, accusing us of providing fake paperwork without any evidence. Despite our repeated attempts to clarify and provide information, Myrtle ignored our emails and refused to communicate professionally. To make matters worse, they waited until the last minute—just one day before move-in—to deny our application.
They even went so far as to contact my gf’s doctor without her consent, which was a clear violation of her privacy. We’ve never had an issue with our service dogs anywhere before, and this experience was shocking and upsetting. Myrtle was unprofessional, rude, and made the entire process unnecessarily stressful. This kind of treatment is unacceptable, especially when it comes to respecting the rights of individuals with disabilities. I would strongly caution anyone considering working with her or dealing...
Read moreFive years ago, in advance of my retirement last winter, I bought a one bedroom condo at LOBTR. Last January I began my new life as a snowbird and I'm thrilled with my choice.
Life at LOBTR is like living in a deluxe resort... in addition to the pool, whirlpool, gym, computer room, party room and billiards room there are lushly landscaped grounds and a beautiful fountain out front. My guests are invariably impressed with the beautiful Italianate architecture and dramatic lobby, along with its proximity to the magnificent Riverwalk.
I have found the staff to be very helpful and accommodating. While parking is tight downtown, my reserved covered parking space is a luxury for my guests (I don't own a car).
As one who has long lived in NYC, in the shadow of the Brooklyn House of Detention, I understand the need for good security, it's keeping...
