This review is long overdue. I had been going to Marina for years. I trusted her with my hair and always left satisfied , until my last visit, when she completely ruined it. I came in for a simple blonde touch-up, brought photos like I always do, made sure we were on the same page, and somehow still walked out with purple roots after sitting through three botched dye jobs in one appointment.
I asked for a golden blonde. Instead, she turned my hair gray, most washed-out ash blonde I’ve ever seen. My ends were almost white. I immediately said something, and she dyed it again. When she removed the towel, my roots were bright red. She looked me dead in the face and said, “That’s golden,” like I’m blind and couldn’t see the red staring back at me in the mirror. Only after blow drying did she finally admit it “Yeah, I see it’s red.” So she dyed it a third time, and this time my roots turned purple.
At that point, even she knew she messed up. She told me she’d fix it “later in the week” then tried to charge me $200 upfront and said I’d owe her another $200 to “finish” the job. Finish what? Fixing the disaster you caused? You’re seriously expecting me to pay full price TWICE because you wrecked my hair? That’s not professional that’s a scam.
I messaged her after to explain how upset I was, and she made it about herself. No care, no accountability , just more gaslighting. She tried to twist the story and pretend we had planned “multiple sessions” and she was “working toward the goal.” That’s a straight-up lie, and she knows it. We never discussed multiple sessions. This wasn’t a color correction. It was a basic blonde touch up, same as always. She’s just trying to rewrite the story to save face.
I told her I didn’t feel comfortable coming back. If she couldn’t get it right after three tries, why would I trust her for a fourth? What am I, delusional? After I asked for a refund, she ignored me and never replied. No apology, no professionalism, no respect. Just silence after taking my money.
I was a loyal client for years, and she treated me like I was disposable the second she messed up. She turned my hair red and purple , colors that are notoriously hard to remove , and then tried to charge me full price to fix it, like I should be grateful. Some stylists are so money-hungry and careless, they’ll mess up your hair, lie to your face, scam you, and...
Read moreIf Google allowed more than five stars, I'd give Mavo Hairlounge ten! Marina is truly my one and only for hair. She doesn't just style; she understands the nuances of my personality and lifestyle, always considering them when crafting my look. As someone who avoids hot tools and desires seamless root grow-outs, her expertise is invaluable. She absolutely knows my hair inside and out, and her coloring technique and custom mixing are nothing short of brilliant.
Every single time, I leave with the best final outcome for my skin tone, whether I'm rocking a bold platinum or a warm, dimensional caramel. This isn't just a salon; it's where artistry meets individualized care.
Beyond my own incredible results, I'm always impressed by the talent surrounding Marina. During my last visit, I caught a glimpse of another stylist's coloring work at the shampoo bowl and was completely blown away – I just had to compliment them! Marina has curated a highly skilled team of seriously cool women, her "MavoBabes," as she calls them. The salon vibe is simply exceptional: bright, inviting, and wonderfully chill.
Honestly, Marina might think I'm partially there for the complimentary prosecco, and she wouldn't be entirely wrong! But the real reason is that I genuinely look forward to my hair appointment days. I love being there; it's a true self-care escape.
If you're looking for a salon that delivers not just stunning hair, but a genuinely transformative and empowering experience, Mavo Hairlounge is it. You'll leave feeling confident, cherished, and...
Read moreI absolutely love this salon! They are all so cheerful and they do what’s best for the client. I thought I knew what I wanted but after talking to my stylist Marisa, she told me about doing a full head of foils and something called a melt, which melts color into your fresh foiled hair to make it look so natural and keeps that harsh line from forming when hair grows out. She took her time and was so meticulous while doing every step of the process. Plus, Marina, the owner made sure I made the right choice when I made my booking with her originally but after talking on a Sunday(her day off) we decided Marisa would be better suited for me. That tells me she wants the best for all her clients and not just take any client that books her! I was so impressed by the atmosphere, the teamwork, the technique, and every client that was there was taking care of like they were the only one present(which is not the case) everyone was working, pinching in where needed and doing it with a true smile!! Go there, I promise you will not be disappointed. I felt like a new person walking...
