Underseas Sports — Attraction in Fort Lauderdale

I could not possibly give a higher recommendation of Hugh at Underseas Sports. I found Hugh through a friend from Lauderdale who has been using the shop for years. When I was put into contact with Hugh he was immediately extremely nice, helpful, and informative. I told him that I’d be working with a limited window between the end of school and the start of my summer job and he worked around my schedule which was extremely helpful. I flew down from New York for a few days to do my Open Water certification and Hugh made sure I had all the necessary material and info to complete as much of the in class portion at home before coming down. He was super engaging and personable the entire time I worked with him. If you want the kind of instructor to work with you 1 on 1 and has a great deal of patience, Hugh is your guy. He had a fantastic teaching style and was incredibly patient with me while I was learning. He put my nerves at ease before my open water dives and I was extremely confident in his ability to not only get me through the dives, but to make sure that I’d be comfortable diving on my own. As Hugh told me, 70% of certified divers never dive again because they don’t feel confident in their training. I can’t wait to get back home and do some local reef dives. Hugh helped me build the necessary skills to really feel comfortable while diving in only a few short days. Born in florida and my family lived here for 20 years. We since moved to Colorado and were back for a death in the family. Rented 6 sets of snorkels, masks, and flippers. My parents bought my niece her own mask and snorkel. we were trying to have a little peace because this is a hard time for us. when returning the items we let the lady know that 3 of the snorkels had holes and didn't work and shouldn't be rented out. When we turned around some guy we had not met said," you need to rinse all this stuff off in the back." we said we had rinsed it off but trying to get anything home from the beach without sand is challenging. my sister said can we just call it even with half of our equipment not working. he replied "don't worry we have your credit card number" and started yelling at my sister. The lady never fitted us for masks or explained that there was a rinse bucket in the back. We didn't even ask for a refund and were treated poorly. Use to be such a sweet place growing up and had some of my childhood memories at this place. such a shame to see employees like this. the owner Matt was always so sweet...

I've been using UnderSea Sports for 5+ years when I am down in Ft Lauderdale! The service is top-notch and very friendly. Hugh was my dive instructor when I was finish my dive cert and I can easily say that was the best thing that could have happened!

Hugh has helped me over the past years grow as a diver along with also being a stand-up guy.

My last trip down, Carmen was my instructor for my Nitrox class. She was friendly, attentive and very knowledgable. On-top of that Hugh helped my girlfriend with their Exploring Diving classes to see if she would like diving (which she did and now has the diving "itch")

Overall, if you are looking for a class act shop to bring your diving business to, you've found it. I can easily say you are making the right decision by going to UnderSea for any of your diving needs. You won't regret it
