We were in the area at noon and decided to grab lunch here because we had never tried it. Located across from Trader Joe’s on N. Federal Highway, this place was empty went we arrived. Our server was friendly and would come to check on us periodically to see if we were ok. He refilled our drinks twice without us having to hunt him down. We started with some shrimp dumplings that not only came out fast but were delicious. Maybe a bit bigger than normal so they weren’t quite bite size but delicious nonetheless. We also ordered a chicken pad Thai and a dragon on fire roll - the menu features Thai food as well as quite a few sushi rolls! The dragon on fire roll is a Mexican roll that has been topped with spicy tuna, cilantro and very thinly sliced jalapeños. Plate is spicy without being overwhelmingly so. The pad Thai was good. Every thing was well done, there where no surprises. If anything, I would say that the surprise was that the place didn’t get busy while we were there - probably it gets busy during the week day at lunch. The music the restaurant was playing was a cross between circuit party, floor filler club dance music. It wasn’t loud or anything but at times did sound a little out of place. However, we were there not for the music so...

May 2024, The inside of the restaurant was clean with a nice decor and plenty of tables to sit at. You can tell they do a great take-out business because we saw so many people in and out picking up food. Natasha our Server was great! However our main meals were horrible, but the Appetizers were good. We shared the following: Crispy Bok Choy that was tasty, it had just the right crisp at the ends, then we ordered the Veggie Spring Roll that were delicious not too oily. Now for our Main Meal we ordered the Authentic Pad Thai ( chicken). The noodles were soaked in a sweet sauce, with crushed peanuts on the side. Honestly, I only had a few bites and couldn't finish the dish. I have been to many restaurants and ordered Pad Thai where you could pick up the noodles with your chop sticks and see each noodle and the sauce was not overwhelming sweet or drenched in a sauce. My friend ordered the Drunken Noodle (beef). Hers was also, soaked in a sauce and gooey, but at least it wasn't sweet. I really wanted to like this place and we won't be back, so my search for a Thai place continues. My next stop will be Larb Thai-isan restaurant in Fort Lauderdale because I heard their food was...

*“I’ve been coming to this restaurant for years and have always had consistently great experiences. On my most recent visit with a close friend, we arrived a little late and asked if it was still okay to be seated. The staff welcomed us in, which I appreciated, but unfortunately our server that evening was unusually rude.

I get that it was late and the waiter may have been in a rush. We ordered very quickly to be considerate, but at the end of the day, this is the service industry. Part of the job is being able to work through challenges without letting it negatively affect the customer experience. It’s rare for me to ever feel hesitant about leaving a tip—I always tip regardless—but this time it was difficult.

Normally, the service here is well above average, which is why this stood out so strongly. Having owned, run, and operated restaurants all over the country, I understand the challenges of the business and I rarely write reviews. But this situation was disappointing enough that I felt it was important to share.

I value this restaurant and will continue to come back, but I wanted management to be aware so this can be addressed and the level of hospitality you’re known for can be...

This was my first time eating here. I visit FTL apparently once a year. Having lived here 14 years ago, I mostly stick to old favorites. The wait for my appetizer— crispy calamari was around ½ hour. That was at 8 pm on a Wednesday night. After that, the service was prompt. The waiter must have been new and was surprised when I asked for a spoon to accompany the fork and chopsticks (they also serve sushi) the table was set with. I explained that in Thailand, people usually eat with a fork and spoon. He brought me a spoon right away. I attribute that to whomever trained him. The calamari was overcooked and tough. I should have asked for a steak knife to cut the rings. There was way too much batter. Think British fish and chips. The sweet Thai pepper sauce was delicious. The Basil Duck was spot on. It was described as containing ¼ duck, which it probably did. The sauce was delicately. The pad Thai was also delicious. The portion was very generous. I took most of it home as I miscalculated how much batter would be on the calamari.

The food was good, but it was a bit of a disappointment overall. The miso soup was lacking in umami taste. The salad was mostly just a plate of lettuce, with two small grape tomatoes and some cucumber, and a little shredded carrot. We tried both the ginger dressing, which was good but not amazing, and the peanut dressing which was really thick like peanut butter. Neither of those dressings was elevated in any way. The mango maguro roll that we got didn’t even have mango on every single piece which I thought was very odd considering it’s in the name. The California roll was good, but small and tightly packed. We also requested eel sauce and spicy mayo to go with our rolls, and the eel sauce was gritty – that is something I’ve never experienced before. The spicy mayo was more like just mayo. I didn’t get any heat from it at all. Looking at the menu when first sat down we had very high hopes, but the food just disappointed, overall.

It is a strip mall Thai/Japanese. So most, like I, would think they know what to expect. And we'd be right about the menu (typical), the ambience (typically tranquil), the service (exceptionally polite and capable), the parking (plentiful) but the food is just that notch more authentic. My first experience of Thai was in Toronto, and nowhere in my 20 years in SoFl has compared (I go back and am reminder what is possible). This place comes the closest. Granted this was just one visit - and one of the most maddening problems in SoFl is inconsistency, but the dishes (red curry and pad thai) at Bankok were a level better. Thank you! Please keep it up! And, I hope the foodies that appreciate what you do, push you to add some non-tyoical menu items (shame on me, I did miss the specials on the chalkboard).
