I just want to let people know about this place.
They do not have itemized receipt. So if you buy more than one items, it will show up as one item on the receipt. That means you have to go off the price sticker on the item to know how much each items cost. Then do your own calculation to make sure they charge you correctly.
Last October, they over charged me on a statue ($50 more than the sticker price). Of course, it wasn't itemized so I didn't realize the error until I got home and added up the items from the price stickers.
Also, you can't go off the sticker if there's a discount applied. Discount will be different for whatever the deal/offer at the time of purchase. This will make it difficult to figure out the real price you paid for the item.
They also do not have bags that can hold more than a few comic books. Yet they sell collectibles like large Hot Toys and statues. Which will not fit into their bags.
Just today, the associate told me when I checked out that he's not able to give me a copy of the printed receipt. This has never been an issue before. They've always given me a copy of the receipt in the past.
He said I would have to create an account and it would be sent to my email on the account. However, since I don't want an account due to privacy reasons he said he can't set up an email after the fact. So I'm left with items I purchased and no receipt.
After standing there with no solution from the associate, I asked if I could take a picture of the receipt that I signed. He agreed and gave me the receipt to take a picture of. This should not be how things are done.
I swear if he had mentioned this up front needing to create an account in order to get a receipt for my purchases I would have left the store and never come back. If this is indeed a new policy then it needs to be put on the front door and on this location's online portal.
I don't think it's a policy change and just this associate not knowing or misinterpreting whatever he was told by management. I've shopped here before in the past and never had trouble getting a copy of the receipt. If it happens again, I will not be coming back.
Anyway, I highly recommend the Haltom City location. Their receipts are itemized and they give you a copy of it with your purchase. They also have large bags for your statues and larger collectibles.
UPDATE: Thanks for the response! I have adjusted my...
Read moreGone are the days of excellent customer service and friendly introductions. From the moment I broke the threshold of this establishment, never have I felt unwelcomed. The gentlemen with the emotionless face, even though it’s covered with a mask given our current situation in regards to the pandemic, I’m a really good judge of the eyes. The eyes , the window of a persons soul, they say. These particular eyes expressed an uninterested desire to have customers inside the store. It’s as if I interrupted an important meeting. Let me forego any further explanation to my experience or lack of in this store “The Collected”. You must have learned from the guys at Sci-fi Factory, they too are not very friendly or welcoming. This will be my one and only visit to the store. I hope that those who read this and care about customer service as much as I do will find another place to shop. It is hard to find a decent comic book store that sells more then just comics and statues of comic characters. I remember Heroes Comics, Lone Star Comics, Fantastic Comics, and the comic book store that was on Williams Road from back in the day. These people knew how to provide customer service and they had a variety of things, not just comics . They made you feel welcomed, they wanted to help you with whatever it is you’re looking for, and will even order something you don’t find inside the store. That’s customer service. The two that were inside the store today, male and female were not friendly at all. I will find other avenues to suit my comic book needs and other items of interest. By the way, the store is not very well laid out. It’s like finding your way through a maze. Very...
Read moreThis has quickly become my favorite spot for comics and games. Though the selection compared to other venues that I frequent, is smaller, both the proximity to my house and the atmosphere of the store are delightful. The people who run the shop are friendly and seem knowledgeable of all things absolute nerd, but I suspect they may not be entirely human. Not that I'm an expert on alien life by any means, I have my suspicions that their leader may be from another planet. Unlike my other weekend hangout, the nerd-king's here don't look at me with disgust and distain as I browse the 5th ed modules and board games. Should you need information, a friendly neighborhood fellow weeb is never more than a whistle away to give you all the dirt on the latest comics, figurines, and board games about to come out. Anything you can't find physically in the store can be placed on order for you. And, sure, you can do that at home. But you won’t earn bonus points toward future purchases and other goodies with the Collected Rewards program that they run. Also, you would miss out on all the fun of getting to socialize with others out in the wild if that's your thing. They have some pretty big game table areas set up where in theory you could play some games with your friends, but the section is a little cramped. I imagine if they had just a little more frequent interest it might be worth their time to do something about this. But if other nerds are anything like me, going outside and trying to play games in front of other humans is a terrifying idea. All in all, it's a great store that frequently had good sales and deals to go along with their cheery dispositions....
