When I first got there, I knew I had made a bad decision about where my family was going to stay the weekend of our short vacation. When I got there the front counter employee was very rude. She asked very rudely what I needed from her seat in her little nook to the left of me where she had two other friends sitting in there with her. I asked if the room was handicap accessible and she scolded me that I never made that choice online. I told her that the AAA website didn't have that choice and she just rolled her eyes at me. She then got on her computer and did some typing and then said, "there you got it". Also, when I got to my room, I don’t think it was handicap accessible as there was no seat nor an easy to get in shower like I have gotten before and was also told this when I got out of the hospital to ask for handicap accessible as these are the normal amenities, they would have for someone like me. She then gave me a card key for my room and said she was done and went to go sit down with her friends. I politely asked if I could get a second key for my wife, and she got up and pulled open the drawer where the machine was and then tossed me a key and then walked back to her seat once again. I then asked if they had a luggage cart, instead they had an airport cart that I had to juggle to get everything on. When you are traveling with two kids under 5 (a 5yo and a 9 mo.) plus yourself it's hard to get everything on that tiny triangle sorry excuse of a hotel luggage cart that they probably got off craigslist or a yard sale somewhere. To top it off there was only one cart for the entire hotel so if you had to use it you had to hope no one needed it when you wanted to use it. I've always known hotels to have 2 or more. When I got to my room it was nice and clean. I do have to say the house cleaning staff did a nice job of making sure our room was very clean. They even folded both my girls’ blankets they brought. My wife had to return the cart. I asked her if she could ask the front desk if we could have extra pillows as I must sleep elevated per doctors’ orders. She was told that the hotel does not give out extra pillows, so my wife and kids had to sleep without pillows during our trip to accommodate me. If I knew there was a hotel pillow shortage, I would have brought my own pillows. My wife told me that the girl was also arguing with a few guests down stares when she went to ask, and she said she sounded very rude. One thing I hated the most was the smell of cigars and cigarettes in the hallway. I didn't know it was a smoking hotel or I would have asked to be put on a floor with no smoking. The booking information said they had a continental breakfast. At best it was cereal and maybe some bagels. Other LaQuinta’s I’ve been to have that plus eggs, pancakes, potatoes, and so on. That is one way I have always chosen my hotels is if they have a good breakfast spread. This one was at best a quarter of a star. I don't know if the hotel was a new construction building or newly renovated, but you could tell the work went to the lowest bidder. I know for a fact when we go back to Fort Worth again, we will be choosing a different hotel company.
Work on finishing the construction work. The elevators had cheaply painted plywood on the surround and not the nicely polished stainless steel that should have been on it. The baseboard trim still had paint and compound on it from construction on the metal trim, it could use some cleaning. The front planters had trash and weeds growing in them and the front had a rock holding up the top cap of the awning. The shower was not sealed properly, the corners needed more epoxy or silicone (whatever the contractor used). The towel rack in the bathroom was at the wrong height. And the tile work in the shower was very badly laid and not flush.
The entrance was appealingly nice but didn't have that welcome and stay feeling. I've gone to other hotels and people actually hang out in the lobby to talk or use the internet on the tables. This hotel did not feel like you...
Read moreDo Not Stay here. I called and checked the website before I booked a reservation and a front desk person informed me that there were rooms available. Upon arrival, after I spoke to the front desk person "Crystal", she didn't speak back and I informed her that I'll make a reservation online (3rd party). She immediately told me in a mean way that there not accepting (3rd party) reservations and I can only book with her only, because they have 1 room available, then she flipped out a calculator and quoted me a random high price + tax that was not on their site and shouted to me "also a $100 deposit" basically for me to go elsewhere as if I couldn't afford it. I explained how I called and checked the site first etc, but she didn't care, she said because it's Friday. I said to her "I'll step outside to decide if I want the room your offering. About 20 sec later, I came back to the desk and I showed her their website through (priceline) on my phone, she agreed to accept it, but remember she had just told me that she couldn't. After entering the room, I turned on the TV, but it displayed "no internet connection". My daughter tried to get it to work but nothing. I called to inform (Crystal) about the tv, she cut me off and said "you can't watch internet on the TV" huh? I said. After a while, it finally came on. I called to let her know and I asked about the late check out available as the website states. She said it's only for certain people, I said like who? Then she said something totally different. Breakfast the next morning wasn't a great experience, because (Crystal) and another employee sat and watched us the entire time so we didn't finish breakfast. Upon checking out, I asked to see the form I signed and that's when (Crystal) really snapped at me. Upon showing me, she asked me to read it out loud, but that wasn't necessary. After I read it, she asked me why didn't I leave and how I kept calling her I called twice, and I should've left already and she kept repeating this. I asked her who was her manager and how can I contact him/her? She hesitated and then gave me the manager's card and said "why did you stay", you should've left early". I told her I'm not hear to argue with you, but I'll pray for you. As I was walking away, she said "don't come back". I said "what if I wanted to rebook", this is a public place". She said "no it isn't for you I will refuse you". Then she said "leave or I'll call the police". Call them for what? Ok, totally discrimination. I didn't want to rebook I just wanted to get her reaction when I said it and she proved me right. Discrimination it was, still waiting to hear from her manager "Manisha" as I left several messages as well as my deposit and we took pic leaving. This is 2 weeks later, I've contacted a higher source, because when I call about my deposit and give my name I get hung up on. You have to give a star to post....
Read moreOur flight was delayed so we didn't arrive at the hotel until 1am. When we entered the hotel lobby we immediately noticed there was no air conditioning. We found that strange because Fort Worth was 100 degrees that day. We checked in and the man at the desk assured us the AC was working in the rooms. We opened the door to our room and I immediately smelled a musty dirty smell. Like most normal people we then turned on the lights, which didn't work so our son turned on the flashlight on his phone. As we put down our suitcases and tried to fumble around my son asked what this bug was on the counter. It was a COCKROACH. We went down to the desk where the staff confirmed they have indeed been having a cockroch problem and then offered to bring up a light bulb so we could turn a light on. Once the lights turned on things got worse from there. The only way I can describe this would be to say the room appeared to be one that woyld be rented by the hour.|We were in town for our sons sporting event and had to be on a court in 4 hours so had no choice but to try to get 3 hours of sleep. To make things even worse the pilliowcase on one of the beds apoeared used and dirty. It was just ao awful. Because of the filth in the bathroom, none of us took a shower. Directly after the sporting event we went back to the hotel and checked out. There were two new staff members at the desk at this point. They too confirmed the COCKROACH problem but actually said "they were on the second floor, not the third floor where we were staying". We asked for a refund for the remaining two nights we had booked. They said they couldn't authorize a refund but would check with the manager. We were quickly denied. We asked to speak with the manager directly and what a surprise, they just left the building. We were assured the manager would call us and two days later we have of course not received a call. Although this establishment has the la quinta sign, it is nothing like any of the la quintas we have ever stayed at. They have done a remodel of the downstairs apparently, but have clearly not touched any of the rooms. Prior to putting the la quinta sign up this place must have been a motel 6 or worse. This is a place you do not want to bring your family. It smells, is dirty, and has a cockroch problem that the staff is clearly aware of and not dealing with. Moreover, once you check in you are at their mercy with respect to a refund. Absolutely the worst experience of our lives. Please save yourself the headache and go to the other hotels in the area. To submit the review I have to hit at least one star. However this location doesn't deserve...
