The Rail — Local services in Fort Worth

I'll lead off with some love for the venue. I've been to a few smaller shows at The Rail Club and had a blast, and not having to always drive to Dallas is a major plus. That said, I went to the Chelsea Grin/Shadows of Intent/Signs of the Swarm/Disembodied Tyrant show last night (3/29/2025), and it was not a good time despite the lineup being stacked with several of my favorite bands. Metal shows are always tightly packed, but there was probably 100 too many people in the space. It was so packed by the entrance that it made it difficult to even enter the club. This caused the line to move very, very slowly and for many people to miss the opening act (granted they could have arrived earlier, but still). Back to inside. I don't mind being shoulder to shoulder in a venue, but it was really hot inside. So much so that the bar was tossing out water bottles into the crowd, which is great, but after catching a stray bottle to the neck, I spent the majority of the show looking at where the water bottles were going instead of watching the band. One vocalist mentioned the heat after only two songs.

Moving forward into the summer months, I'd recommend kicking on the AC a day or two in advance of any shows, dimming the house lights to reduce heat and increase immersion(especially during sets), using stanchions to keep high traffic areas less congested(entrance/bars/bathrooms), hand out/sell waters upon entry, and consider a possible capacity reduction.

Worst experience ever. Thank you for ruining our vacation. Drove 9 hours to see this band they can't be organized enough to get even half of the line inside before starting the show. We missed the entire set standing outside for 2 hours while the workers laugh and play around at the door. We get inside finally and realize they over sold the show and we are literally packed like sardines. This can't be safe or legal. Someone needs to look into this place.

The owner does not care about their guests and wants to blame a 3rd party. We all know the owner has responsibility to know what their max capacity is and not to sell more than that. They will not learn or care, they will just keep shifting the blame. They were letting in tons of people who did not already have tickets. That is not a 3rd party issue, that is a...

Tonight was the first night The Rail has sold out since new ownership, and I will be back!! The owners made sure to take care of their patrons by throwing water bottles into the packed crowd and making sure patrons who needed extra space due to asthma, anxiety, etc. got it by letting them onto the top tier. Also, the staff, went the extra mile! Security, bartenders, door, they all smiled and answered any questions they were given! Truly, on a show that could have been a disaster because a third party over-promoted it, they absolutely served the metal community!!
