I had my wedding here on October 4th, 2014. I booked both the upstairs and the downstairs so we would have exclusive use of the INN. It was pretty much a shambles. I booked all nine rooms so myself and my wedding party could get ready there uninterrupted and have a lovely day before the ceremony and reception. I was told we could get in the bridal suite at 12. It was understood that there would NOT be any other bridal parties or weddings since I had booked the entire Venue (or at least I thought it was). When I arrived at 12:30 there was another bride, her entire bridal party, and her photographers there in the bridal suite getting ready, taking pictures, etc. They were not asked to leave and in fact had had there rehearsal dinner there the night before, had stayed the night, had plans to stay all day, be photographed all over the venue, have her flowers delivered there, and then her horse and buggy arrived to take her to her own wedding at another wedding venue at 2:30 pm. My wedding started at the Kenmore at 4 pm. Needless to say I was panicked, hyperventilating and just freaking out. It was awful. The GM, Jackie said "she was taking care of it" and that she had asked the other bride and her party to leave. She said they had called the room, banged on the door, and the other girl refused to leave. (Somewhat hard to believe since they had coned of spaces for the other brides horse and buggy in front of the Inn). Which didn't change the fact that me and my bridal party were shoved into a tiny room to get ready (7 people), and we lost all of the pre-arranged photography shots that my photographer had gone down there two weeks in advance to get of my dress, shoes, etc in the bridal suite. and that I was getting my make-up done next to a toilet, instead of on the couch in the bridal suite living room. It was really bad, and the GM lied to my face throughout the entire experience and acted as if she was so offended at the other brides actions and that she had no idea that the other bride had the intention of doing that. (She said the other bride booked the bridal suite and she just didn't check out on time at 11 am, and there was nothing she could do to make her leave). The other bride left her room in full regalia at 2:30 was photographed in front of my family and friends all over the venue (didn't pay for the right to be there) had her flowers delivered there, and left finally in her horse and buggy carriage. I emailed the others brides photographers (Kitt Creative) who told me that the Kenmore knew full well of the other brides plans, and never asked anyone to leave while they were there. So the truth all came out in the end. On top of that we paid $45.00 per person and most of my guests left early to go get food because the food came out really, really slow and everyone was starving. A group of 8 of my guests left together at 7pm and went to Outback. I was mortified when I heard this I wanted to cry. As for making right what she did, She ended up giving us our room for free after I asked her to the next day, she didn't offer. She continued the "I didn't know anything routine" until I confronted her with the photographers email to which she stopped responding altogether. She wouldn't give me the owners information when I asked for it, and said she would forward my concerns to them. Somehow I doubt that very seriously. It was one of the worst experiences of my life. Which is pretty bad to say about your wedding day. Really had she admitted she messed up and double booked the venue and offered to make it right, it would have been fine, but what she did was totally wrong, unethical, and of poor judgement and character. If you make a mistake just be honest and own up to it, don't make it worse but lying and trying to cover it up. She really damaged my wedding day. It was awful. If you are thinking about get married there, just beware of who you are...
Read morewe have been to over 100 bed and breakfasts in the US and Europe. Many were old and historic. The kenmore was disappointing, not because of the building but the lack of acceptable expectations. ||||upon arrival after 5:30 pm on a Friday, the building no longer had staff. We had to see ourselves in, no staff, no cold drink, no tea or coffee available. Nothing ! Just find your own way to your room.||||The French room was small but adequate , but unfortunately there was 1/4 roll of toilet paper and no one to ask for more. An extra roll was not left in the room. Staff were no where to be found ||||The toilet actually was up against a wall so use meant leaning against the wall and the towel rack. A very tight squeeze especially for one with wide shoulders. It meant leaning on the towels while using the toilet.||||the bathroom sink was falling off the wall and unsteady and shaky. The shower curtain had mold on it. The bathroom cabinet was rusted and disgusting. The carpets were quite dirty and stained. They were not vacuumed as there was small debris on the floor. ||||There was no place to get anything to drink, but there was two warm bottles of water in the room.||||The next morning breakfast was somewhat meager for a Bed and breakfast . One had to choose between things normally offered, such as if you chose eggs you could get either bacon, sausage or fruit or yogurt with the eggs. That's it other than toast. There was nothing special , less inviting than a Denny's or I Hop. You could not get yogurt or fruit is you got a slice of bacon. ||||The bathroom door squealed so loud it sounded like an angry donkey. Anyone using the bathroom in the middle of the night not only woke up their partner but also the people next door. I noticed the staff about this the next morning, a little WD-40 would have resolved the problem, but no one came and another night of loud, very loud bathroom door, like from a scary movie. Really enough to wake up neighbors. ||||Throughout our two days there was not a morsel of drink or snack, tea or coffee offered other than breakfast. Breakfast, which is normally served in a very inviting dining room was served instead in a dark dingy musty basement room. The reason first time was an afternoon party scheduled for that room, however no explanation as to why on the second day.||||This Bed and breakfast was not up to the standards advertised. Other than our breakfast server, we never saw any staff and there were no one suggesting restaurants or where to go to enjoy the area. ||||The bed was wonderful, but the experience was...
Read moreWe chose this site because it was in town, and served breakfast. Totally regret our choice due to three major issues: communications about check-in, cleanliness of room, and access to staff for after-hours issues. ||||The web site indicates late check in is after 8pm, but if you arrive after 5pm (we arrived at 5:35pm), it turns out the doors are supposed to be locked and there's no staff either on site or answering the reservation desk phone. Had no idea. ||||The staff sent access instructions via email mid day - but we were driving. We were able to enter because the side door was (accidentally left) unlocked, and we finally located the envelope with our room key after 30 mins of searching for staff. Ideally, we would have received check-in information the day we made the reservation, with a reminder the day of check in. ||||Regarding cleanliness, our room - the Rose Parlor, pictured on the site as a deluxe room - had lovely furniture, so first impression was great. Slightly smaller size than a hotel room. But the carpet and chairs were stained throughout. The toilet had water stains and the paint was coming off the seat. The ironing board supports were broken. Although sheets and towels were bleached clean, areas of the room didn't feel or appear clean, and even the top of the bureau was sticky. If staff had been on site, I would have requested a different room. ||||Regarding access to staff: the wall heating/air unit beeped...every 33 seconds. All night. We could not get it to stop. We reached out to the emergency contact, who said someone would come to our room while we were at dinner. Instead, we received a text with instructions to try on our own - which didn't work. When we called again, no answer, and voice mails were full. We ended up sleeping in another room that was unlocked. ||||Breakfast might be lovely; with the cleanliness issue, we didn't stay. We had driven all day to get to Fredericksburg; this was an overpriced and exhausting nightmare....
