Walk in the footsteps of Revolutionary history as a period-costumed tour guide paints verbal pictures of this building's past lives as home to George Washington's Brother and decades as a local tavern and public house. Follow the GPS and park on one of the nearby streets. We found a spot quickly even though there was a festival happening a few blocks away.

Attended a whiskey tasting event...museum staff in colonial era clothing...discussed the history of whiskey in the colonies then the country. Placed the significance of whiskey in historical context. Good event. Original home built in 1760 by Charles Washington, youngest brother of George, after whom Charlestown, WV was named.

A wonderful tour! Our guide brought history to life as she explained what the accommodations, food, and local customs were like in a colonial tavern. Of particular interest was the origin of various sayings like "double fisted drinker". Not to be missed!
