Normally I have a good time at happy’s but this time was different. Me and my friends of age (feels important to note) ended our bar crawl at happy’s because we finished our senior year fall semester finals and decided to go on a bar crawl and there was a little Christmas tree for the Fredericksburg spca (where I rescued my cat from) on the very end of the bar (away from all alcohol or anything of importance) so I was looking at all the ornaments to try and find cat ones so I could donate to it because I am going there on Wednesday to adopt a cat that I have on reserve through a foster and from the other end of the bar I get yelled at aggressively from the female bartender that “I’m not supposed to be behind the bar” mind you I am obviously looking at the tree and they put ornaments on all sides of the tree and most of them were for dogs so I’m looking for ones I can contribute towards for cats and I tried explaining I’m just looking at the tree and I get yelled at more that it doesn’t matter and why didn’t I “just turn the tree” which makes no sense to do because I felt that touching the tree to turn it would’ve been more disrespectful then just arching around the corner (I tried my best to not fully step around the bar and tried to be respectful). Anyway I will not be returning to this establishment because I feel as though the reaction was unwarranted because I wasn’t actually behind the bar and was obviously looking at the tree. The female bartender fully yelled at me like I was a drunk oblivious girl just behind the bar when in reality I wasn’t even drunk and was trying to find a donation that met the criteria of what I can afford and she didn’t even give me a chance to explain even though it was obvious what...
Read moreLook, man...what do you go to a bar for...seriously? Do you want to be seen at the latest hip joint, sipping a trendy cocktail and posting duck lip pics there on you IG ? ...or do you want cheap drinks in a place regulars come and could care less if you showed up in crocs and a Journey t- shirt from 1985? My girl and I did an impromptu bar hop recently. We each had a drink at each venue, then moved on. We started at Happy Endings and ended up at...uh... well, never mind that. The next day, I checked my card and every place we went... over 20 bucks. ...Happy Endings... $6.95. Now granted... the other places didn't serve PBR in a can, but hey... sometimes you put an emphasis on value. Also, H.E. was the only place we had lively conversations with total strangers. I dunno... I've been going there for years and they always seem to deliver. Plus...in the current state of our economy, you want your drinking dollar to go a bit farther. To me it seems like all the bars in Fredericksburg are trying to stand out in their own sort of way. H.E. doesn't have to try.. they do it old school and don't care what you think. Just sit down, drink your PBR straight out the can and no need to pretend to be someone you're not. You're probably not that interesting anyway... like me. It's ok, I'll buy the next round and we can solve the world's problems. Bottom line, Home town bar filled with friendly locals and dirt cheap drinks to lift your spirits....and a bar name that reminds you of your last trip to...
Read moreMy and my friends tried going here Thursday night to celebrate my friend's birthday and experienced the rudest "bouncer." I have never been to this establishment nor to that part of downtown Fredericksburg before, so I unintentionally got lost and drove incorrectly on a one way street; as did my friend who was following behind me. We quickly noticed and corrected ourselves. As we walked up to the entrance, I prepared to take my ID out and without any explanation, he told us that he couldn't let us in. I asked why and he refused to give me an explanation and insulted my friends and I by assuming that we were drunk because he saw that we mistakenly drove in the wrong lane of the one way street. I tried to explain that we had gotten lost, but he dismissed us immediately. I understand that he was doing his duty as a bouncer, but he was by far the most impolite, ill-mannered person, and my friends and I felt like he was going to call the cops if we didn't leave immediately. We had planned to celebrate my friend's birthday there and he pretty much ruined our plans for the night. Not only did he lose our business, but he lost potential returning customers. We wanted to try this bar out since my friends and I haven't had good experiences at the other local bars in town. This was by far the worst. I rarely ever give reviews on Google or Yelp, but this ignorant experience was...
