Vama Designs is hands-down the best Indian bridal boutique in the Bay Area!

Though the shop is located in a home, don't let that discourage you from paying a visit. The shop itself is large, beautiful and very professionally operated. Certain rooms are dedicated for displaying the clothing, whereas others are dedicated to customer trial rooms and to the on-site tailor. Plus, the house and neighborhood themselves are gorgeous as well!

The owner, Vaijayanti Baldua, is so experienced and helpful. She has helped tons of brides find and design their dream outfits from head to toe. Although she specializes in clothing, she will often help her clients find the perfect jewelry, shoes and accessories to complete their dream look. She takes bridal designs seriously and really cares that her brides are 100% happy with the final outcome.

I searched high and low in California and Canada to find the outfits for my engagement and wedding - but I had a tough time landing on the perfect outfit for my wedding ceremony. I visited her shop and tried on a stunning gown which I liked, but which was in the color navy. Right away, the owner offered to customize the gown in my preferred color and with any other modifications I had in mind. I showed her a picture that I had pulled from Instagram, and she was able to tell me which colors were being used, how the work could be altered, and how the dupatta could be customized to achieve my desired look. She worked with me closely on the designs and offered invaluable advice based on her experience with past brides.

When the final designs were sent to her team in India, they stitched the piece to my exact measurements from scratch. When the time came to ship the dress from India to California, the owner did not take any chances - she decided to fly to India (with a different dress in hand which fit me perfectly) to make sure that the piece was stitched perfectly and nothing would happen to it in transit. When I came to her shop to pick up the piece, she made sure her that her tailor would be available on-site at the same time in case any final adjustments needed to be made.

I was really amazed that Vama Designs stood by their designs, their team, their quoted price and timeline, and 100% customer satisfaction from A to Z. Until the final day before the wedding, I was in regular communication with the owner and any questions or final adjustments that were on my mind were addressed quickly, fairly and professionally. Given my experience with other Indian boutiques in California and Canada, I can say that this level of customer service is unparalleled.

Vama is as best as it gets. Seriously! I could go on for days about how great Vaijaynti (sp?) and her designs are, but I'll try to point out the most relevant parts below.

In short - the designs, collection, pricing, customer service and overall process is as good as it can be - just go to her!

As a one stop shop - her collection is 10 times larger than most! She has something to suit everyone's style for bridal and non-bridal looks in addition to jewelry and accessories. She also carries amazing options for men. So it really is the only place you need to go to find something specific to your taste/size etc. You can take home something off the rack or she can customize something for you from scratch! (Most places only do one or the other, but you don't figure that out until you are already inside.) She also doesn't nickel and dime you on alterations or send you to some random auntie's house (this has indeed happened to me) to get fitted. Everything happens at her boutique with her suggestions, and she doesn't let you leave until you are 110% satisfied.

As a designer - she is honest, humble and super creative. She has a keen eye for details and can guide you on what will flatter YOU, and not just that one instagram model. You are of course welcome to show her photos that speak to you, and she can use her expertise to guide you in the design of you look including suggestions on jewelry, hair, make-up shoes etc etc etc

As an owner - She is SUPER patient and warm. As soon as you meet her, you feel comfortable. She doesn't push you on anything, but will stay within earshot if you have questions or need help. If you want, you can literally try on every single outfit there (but I don't recommend it - you'll never leave). I'm really indecisive, and never know what I want, how much I want to spend, what colors look good on me... the list goes on. She is always super patient and lets me take my time deliberating. I won't name names, but I have been to other places that start rolling their eyes or huffing/puffing every time you ask a price, or want to try on your 5th outfit, or they think your budget is too low. Vama is the opposite of that, she won't try to get you to spend and will try to do what she can to work within your budget.

As a person - She is extremely accommodating! I've been at her place late night, early morning, weekends, weekdays.... you name it. Especially if I need something last minute (which is 99% percent of the time). She is not only friendly and professional, but cares about her clients like family.
