My rating is based almost entirely on the front desk staff. Great group of people!
This gym is a good stepping stone from Planet Fitness before going to a Gold’s or 24 Hour. Lots of cardio equipment and clean facility.
My issue, and why I’m choosing to move to another gym, is the clientele. I’ve been a member at a wide variety of gyms over the last 25 years so I have seen a wide variety of gym members. ChuzeFitness, I’ve been to a few different locations, prides itself on a “less attitude” philosophy. While this sounds great, in reality it’s resulted in pretty poor member behavior. Free weights, particularly dumbbells, aren’t replaced in their proper spot but rather in an rack that is closest to the person. Member might also use 3-4 sets of dumbbells even during peak hours. This behavior is commonly policed by more experienced members at other gyms, however with the “less attitude” philosophy at ChuzeFitness, this behavior is rampant. Basically this gym is the embodiment of the cartoon version of the gym most people try to avoid. Plus there are teenagers just taking up space in the free weight area texting or posting to Instagram rather than actually lifting.
Again, great front desk staff but the members make this gym not so great. Oh and be careful in the parking lot as people LOVE to drive the wrong way...
Read moreTried planet fitness and a couple of private gyms and it's been 16 months since I've been a Chuze member. I have the $40 membership which offers me to take guests everyday if I want, take their fitness classes, use the hydromassage thing daily, etc but really the only reason I chose it was because, while they do have a $9.99 membership option, I know my lazy arse will NOT go in if I'm only paying the $9.99. There's a huge variety of machines. There are 2 floors, the top floor has all their weights as well as a treadmill cinema. The only down side is that the closest they have to a squat bar is the Smith machine (they have 3) but I did hear last week that they'll be adding actual squat racks in April. The place itself is great, but it does get pretty crowded in the evenings, parking become a a bit tedious to find, so I recommend going before 4:30pm. Their child care option is great too, super friendly staff and they allow for 1.5hr of child care per day for $20 extra a month. Depending on how often you go to the gym, that's potentially less than $1 per hour for childcare. If I'm honest, in the beginning of go just to get that hour away from my adorably raging toddler. Best part is you get a full detailed tour before signing up and there's always someone willing to help and answer...
Read moreDeeply Disappointed – Discrimination, Racism, and Poor Management
My experience at this gym has been incredibly upsetting and disappointing. From the beginning, I noticed signs of targeting and discrimination — not just from other members, but shockingly, from some staff as well. There were moments where I felt singled out and unwelcome, and certain comments and actions crossed the line into outright racism.
Instead of creating a safe, inclusive environment, the gym has fostered a space where inappropriate conduct is brushed off. When I raised my concerns with management, hoping for accountability and change, I was met with excuses, dismissiveness, and a complete lack of professionalism. Rather than addressing the issues, they either ignored them or mishandled the situation entirely, making things worse.
No one should have to experience racism or feel unsafe while simply trying to work on their health and well-being. This gym has failed its members, especially those from marginalized communities. I will not be returning, and I hope others think twice before supporting a business that doesn’t stand for fairness, respect, or...
