If I could give this theater zero stars I would. I would even take as far as rating it in the negative based on my experience today. Arrived at the theater around 3:30 for a movie that started at 3:40. Long line and it didn’t help that we didn’t purchase our tickets online. Even if we did, you buy the tickets and the snacks in the same line.
There seemed to be only ONE employee working, the guy behind the counter. No one taking the purchased tickets and directing people to the correct room. No one helping him out when there’s a line with nearly 20 people in it.
He was so backed up that he leaves to look for other employees. First he went through the employee door immediately behind the counter. After several minutes he comes back. Still alone. Checks out one customer. Then comes from behind the counter and walks to the employee door that’s at the front entrance. This is where I went to ask for a manager. Before I had a chance to do so, a boy who also worked there named Conner is who came out first. He has to be the most insolent person I’ve come across in a very long time for someone deals with customers. If you’re going to have the gall to speak to a customer rudely, don’t turn away and slam a door in their face. Yes, you read that correct. I then knocked (banged) on the door because I was truly taken aback by what happened. Being the coward that he is, Conner then walks by me very quickly to go work behind the counter. The manager, Zach, who was in ear shot, is now who I’m speaking to. I asked what they planned to do with this long line of complaining customers. He says he’s working on it, fine. I also told him that Conner owed me an apology.
My family has now purchased tickets and snacks. When speaking to Conner at the counter to tell him he owed me an apology, I was blatantly ignored and talked over. Repeated myself in a very clear manner that he owed me an apology, to which he turned his back on me and went through the door. Running off as a coward - I use that word again because if you’re going to have the audacity to be that rude, stand by it and don’t run away.
Speaking to the manager Zach, once again, I told him that Conner owed me an apology and that he ran off when I told him as much. He assured me he would “talk to him” to get the full story. Told him again that he owed me an apology; he could do it infront of all the customers or if he wanted to do it with just me, I was fine with either. I asked if he would be off shift by the time my movie was over because I didn’t want to miss it. Zach stated that Conner would still be on working and he would talk to him. If that happened, I’m unaware as I expected someone to address me once the movie was over. Because who has the time and desire to pay $50+ to miss part of the movie and previews. After all this is why this complaint started, because they were too backed and making people late to see movies.
Mind you, in the minutes that this happened, more employees appeared. Zach is working behind the counter with the original employee and 2-3 other employees decided to start working. I’m still blown away how an employee can be so disrespectful to a customer and a manager not follow up with said customer??? This is the exact reason why I don’t spend much money in Gainesville. It’s worth a 30 minute drive to go to the movies in Buford. There needs to be additional training at this location, especially to Conner and the other employees who were elsewhere probably twiddling their thumbs while one employee is doing...
Read moreUnfortunately, since the pandemic (and to be honest even a bit before) this theater has needed a massive overhaul.
Lots of the theaters inside are very small, and there are hardly ever any employees working the front register on busy nights. This leads to long lines that hardly move, and it’s especially frustrating when you end up missing part of the movie you’re going to see, because you were waiting to buy a ticket.
The theaters are clean enough, but the seats are heavily dated, and because of the material they are made out of just generally feel dirty. This isn’t the managers fault or anything, it’s just something I would personally like to see Regal fix. The same can be said for the Dawsonville theater. The Mall of Georgia theater has much more comfortable seats, and the theaters there also have improved sound systems.
I have a friend who saw a movie a few days ago and the employee in the projector booth had to go through all kinds of menu screens to get the film to play. Personally, I attended a show last night and one of the lights stayed on for the entire show. It was immersion breaking for sure, but overall I attribute this to old technology, and under-prepared staff.
Again, I don’t blame this theaters staff at all. Everyone here is really friendly, and I’ve been coming for years, and plan to come back again regularly as it’s my local theater. I simply hope Regal will see this review among others and take action to renovate their theater.
The only other small gripe I have is that since the pandemic there are rarely movies past 7 pm Mon-Thur. For people who work shifts up to 5-8 that is a bit frustrating. Especially for Thursday night preview showings. But, again. That’s not against anyone who works at...
Read moreHad a horrible experience on Jan. 1st. I’ve tried calling the theatre directly and no one answers. I’ve reached out to Regal corporate and they just said “sorry. We’ll pass that along to the theatre.”
It started with my Diet Pepsi (gross, I know, but they switched from Coke to Pepsi during COVID). I heard the sputtering and the attendant offered “We just ran out. Would you like me to top it off with regular?” Hands me 2/3 full cup. “Could I just come back get it topped off after you get it switched out?” “No. We only refill the larges.” So I went to my seat only to discover that my drink lacked carbonation. Went back a second time to get regular Pepsi. Went back to my seat and discovered it didn’t have bubbles either. Went back again—bc I paid $7 for the drink—and they had the Diet Pepsi working (with bubbles this time!).
I’m sitting in the movie, which is the final showing of the day. About an hour into the movie, the sound suddenly gets very muted and it’s now difficult to understand the dialogue. I go to the lobby to find a worker—there is no human to be found. I knocked on “employee only” doors. Nobody. So I left the theatre, upset and frustrated.
I am so frustrated that this theatre is inaccessible via phone or via my originally email to corporate to refund me for this visit! Use caution—the movies are too expensive to have such a...
