I have been to this place a few times before and both the food and service have been really good. However, today we went in with their daily special in mind (.99 tacos w/ either beef or chicken, lettuce and cheese) which is a great deal. When asked to change the tortilla to a corn tortilla, the waiter said it would be an up charge because they only sell the special with hard taco shells. He brought out the tacos without any forewarning what the price was so we ate without thinking it would be a bad price difference. It went from .99 to 3.25 just from the tortilla. The retail price for hard shell tacos is literally .05 less than flour tortillas. Especially since restaurants get food cheaper in bulk, there is no reason $1 tacos should be $3 a piece. While management solved the issue, it does leave a bad taste in my mouth knowing they are overcharging for the cheapest food cost ingredients in the house (and the server argued with us about the price). Thats a 900% cost increase for tortillas and a miscommunication. I understand up-charging from the retail price to maintain profit but that is completely...
Read moreWe visited LA MONTANA MEXICAN GRILL this evening to enjoy their Wednesday fajitas for two special. However, we encountered an unpleasant situation with our server. Upon ordering the special, she informed us that it was only served on Thursdays. We politely explained that we had previously enjoyed the fajitas special on Wednesdays and requested her to kindly verify with the staff. When she returned, it was evident that she was upset, as the staff had confirmed that we were correct. Unfortunately, the rest of our dining experience was marred by poor service and a confrontational attitude from our server. Regrettably, her behavior left us with a negative impression of the restaurant, and we are unlikely to return...
Read moreLet's be real, as an al pastor aficionado, I usually wouldn't even consider a place that doesn't use a trompo. But La Montana totally stole my heart (and my appetite) with their al pastor! Sure, it wasn't cooked on the traditional spit, but the flavor was on point, juicy, and oh-so-delicious. Plus, the portion was massive – hello, leftover lunch tomorrow!
The entire restaurant has this adorable, inviting vibe that makes you want to linger. The staff was super friendly and attentive, which just added to the whole experience.
So, if you're looking for amazing Mexican food, with killer al pastor (even without the trompo!), La Montana...
