Haydee’s Cafe & Cantina — Restaurant in Gainesville

We absolutely LOVE this place. It is a hidden gem in Gainesville that offers AUTHENTIC dishes. We really enjoy eating breakfast there. Everything has always been great. They make their own tortillas. I highly recommend the gorditas- they are like little "hot pockets" packed with delicious things! I always order the egg and cactus gordita and the al pastor gordita. These gorditas range from $3- $5 and are amazing for the price. The green salsa verde they bring to the table to use on their food is very good and not too spicy.

The coffee is a bit on the pricey side ($3.19) but you get unlimited refills. Also- when we sit on any of the wooden benches/booths they are all connected and even if the person behind you is shaking their leg, you can feel it and it drives me crazy. We prefer sitting at an individual table not connected to any other booths.

This Haydee's cafe is a lot more beautiful on the inside than the one in Oakwood, but the food is amazing and the same at...

Have you been to Haydees Cafe & Cantina in Gainesville?! If you love Mexican food and you haven’t, what are you waiting for? This spot has a spacious dining area and a fun menu. No matter what you order, it’s going to be tasty.

What do I enjoy ordering? I like starting with their TACO PAPAS—think nachos but with fries. I get mine topped with chicken, and it’s a game-changer. Do you like tamales? Their tamale plate is delicious and filling. And if you’re like me and love trying everyone’s quesadillas, you won’t be disappointed here either. Want to keep it simple? Their tacos are GREAT.

Just got take out from this place and was extremely disappointed. There were no veggies with either of the two fajita plates we ordered and both of the large cheese dips we ordered were less than half full (see pics). It would have been more understandable if they had been really busy, but they weren’t so I’m not sure what happened. I did call and let them know and they were nice about it and the guy checked with the cook, called back and left a voicemail saying that they were out of the smaller containers the dip was supposed to come in and that only two veggies were supposed to come with the fajita plates, but we didn’t get any...
