Matthew's Haunted Pub Crawl - Ghost Tours — Attraction in Galena

Matthew himself was great! The stories and history he shared was very informative and interesting. Locations vary, bring cash for drinks and double fist them as you'll be able to only order once per location.. It's really not about drinking so don't come expecting to get lit.. Only thing it's more of him telling stories than trying to communicate with the dead. On A nice night like the Saturday we went would be perfect for Matthew to take his tour outside to take pictures of the town and maybe at least show us some places..

After the tour I took a bunch of pictures of the town and actually cought some orbs. Not only are they there, but they also move! I also may have gotten a face or two in a window. Have to verify with Matthew himself. So overall was a cool experience if your not a hardcore skeptic..

I'm my photos the town was practically dead... Few bars open even less people in them. Weird considering it's a holiday weekend but I guess the young crowd of Galena isn't hanging around the tourists. The sky was cloudy so no stars.. In the middle left you'll see there's a yellow light, that's from a rooftop. But above that you'll see two green orbs.. now if you go through each photo you can see the lower orbs move to the right, then back...

Was excited to go on a pub crawl, and was under the understanding it would be a walking tour. Spent over and hour and 15 minutes at the first place being lectured and really only able to get one drink. Also think this was because he was waiting for a bachelorette party that was extremely late, so the tour was extended without notice. People coordinated rides and shuttles with their hotels and inns, so we were some who got up and left mid-lecture to ensure we didn’t miss it. Then the second place we walked through the pub to a dank storage room of the bar with old lawn chairs and furniture to sit in next to the bar’s food storage and proceeded to get more of a lecture and look at pictures other people took. The bartender was overwhelmed with how big our group was and barely could get our drinks in any sort of fashion. We left before the tour was over (went over designated time), but only went to 2 places and barely got 2 drinks the whole night. Also time of the tour caused us to miss the whole Halloween parade, would’ve been more fun being at a pub enjoying it with the tour and actually walk Main Street to get the full tour and vibe of the haunted...

My husband & I stayed in Galena Oct 27-30 for my birthday not knowing anything about that being the big parade weekend. We got tickets for the pub crawl on Fri the 29th @ 4:30p. Matthew was absolutely fantastic & we thoroughly enjoyed all of the history he shared & his personality was great. What we weren’t that impressed with were the two venues we visited. The first was a brightly lit wine bar with limited drink options & a very loud party in the adjoining room. The next venue we had to sit outside, which was chilly & no real domestic drink options (& my husband isn’t a craft beer person). We heard that the following night’s tour was going to the Desoto House, which had we known what venues were on each tour we would have picked that evening. So I guess it would have been nice to know the venues before we chose which tour we would go on. Again, we would totally recommend this tour, just maybe some tweaking in offering options of venues/tours...
