As a beach lover, my recent visit to Stewart Beach left me with fond memories of a perfect day by the sea. This family-friendly beach in Galveston, Texas, offers a delightful blend of sandy shores, recreational activities, and well-maintained amenities, making it a fantastic destination for a beach day getaway.
Pristine Sandy Shoreline: Stewart Beach boasts a wide and clean shoreline, ideal for lounging under the sun, building sandcastles, or taking a leisurely stroll along the water's edge. The beach's gentle slope creates shallow waters, making it safe for families with young children to splash and play in the waves. The cleanliness of the beach was noticeable, and the regular trash pickup contributed to a pleasant and eco-friendly environment.
Lifeguard Safety: One of the standout features of Stewart Beach is the presence of vigilant and attentive lifeguards. Their watchful eyes and proactive approach to ensuring beachgoer safety instilled confidence in visitors, especially for those with children. The lifeguard stations were strategically placed, providing excellent coverage across the beach.
Beach Amenities: Stewart Beach offers a host of amenities designed to enhance visitors' beach experience. The well-maintained restrooms, outdoor showers, and shaded pavilions provided relief and convenience for all beachgoers. The beach rental options, such as umbrellas and chairs, were readily available and reasonably priced, making it easy for visitors to set up their ideal beach spot.
Family-Friendly Atmosphere: The beach's welcoming and family-friendly atmosphere was evident throughout my visit. I observed families picnicking, playing beach volleyball, and enjoying quality time together. The absence of rowdy crowds added to the relaxed and enjoyable ambiance, making it an excellent spot for families looking to create lasting memories.
Activities and Entertainment: For those seeking more than just sunbathing, Stewart Beach offers a range of activities to keep everyone entertained. The beach's designated swimming areas were well-marked, and the opportunity to rent boogie boards and beach toys added an extra element of fun for kids and adults alike. Beachfront concerts and events are occasionally held, adding a festive touch to the overall experience.
Affordable Admission and Parking: The beach's affordable admission fee and convenient parking options were a pleasant surprise. The reasonable rates allowed for easy access to the beach without breaking the bank, making it an attractive option for locals and tourists alike.
Nearby Attractions: Stewart Beach's close proximity to other Galveston attractions adds to its allure. Visitors can easily explore the vibrant Seawall Boulevard, visit the Pleasure Pier amusement park, or discover the historic Strand District, all within a short distance from the beach.

Read moreWe went to this beach on a Saturday in mid July, after some recommendations from friends. We have a 2 year old, so the showers and playground were enticing for us to come here. People seem to always complain about Galveston beaches being “gross”, but I thought this one was fine and wasn’t too crowded (probably because the parking was $15 and I know there are cheaper options elsewhere). We got in at about 9:30 and left around 1:30, and it seemed to be picking up a bit more, but never too crowded. The reason I gave it 4 stars is because they don’t allow beach TENTS next to the water. You can bring umbrellas, and they have rentals available, but tents can only be further back on the beach, or the park rangers will tell you to take them down. The area that tents are allowed is so far back, you wouldn’t want to sit because then you aren’t close to water, you are closer to the parking lot. Pretty lame. We didn’t want to spend $35 on a rental, so we ended up just doing a half day on the beach and getting a little bit of a sunburn. Pretty disappointed when we drove 3 hours to get there and had come prepared…word to the wise, bring an umbrella...
Read moreA contractor that works renting the chairs started an argument with me after a friend left early and allowed us to sit in their chairs that were paid for until 5pm. I was told your not allowed to do this and That's ok. I started moving my things although I asked where the rules were posted. Which they are not posted on the beach or at the facility. Two of my kids ran up to me crying while moving the items. They were stung by jellyfish. The rude contractor ended up calling me a liar in front of my kids several times and then said I wasn't moving fast enough and he had work to do so he took the chair that my dog was tied to and dumped my kids water to the ground and almost flipped the chair on too of my dog. My husband even asked him if there were paramedics or beach help to help the kids and he stayed I don't know go find them yourself. We have been coming for years but will not come back to...
