Let’s be clear…this is not a “fine” dining experience. It’s a pirate themed sports bar at a prime location on the beach. And it was a five star experience in every way. Let’s start with..made a reservation through Google (we had no idea)…We arrived at the start of the Texas-OSU playoff game and the place was packed with UMTB folks…we found two seats and got in line to order. It quickly became clear that there were only two people working, the chef and the owner Spike. When it was our turn to order it was clear that Spike was prioritizing the happiness of all his customers by gently encouraging me to order things that could be delivered in a more timely manner, which I did. The wait was long but worth it. The Pho was superb, as was the Shaken Beef. We also thoroughly enjoyed the salad and egg rolls. Unfortunately Texas lost, but we had a ton of fun and enjoyed great food. Watching spike and his partner work tirelessly to accommodate all of the guests was nothing short of inspirational. As we were leaving he went out of his way to come over, thank us for our patience, and wish us a happy new year. If we lived here, we would be...

This pho restaurant is a true gem, offering a broad menu of great options, and the pirate theme gives it an extra fun atmosphere! They also have large TV screens to watch sports on if that is your thing!

From the moment you step inside, you'll be greeted by friendly staff. They were so wonderful! Everyone really made me want to come back and support this new business!

For apps, we had the calamari and the crab ragoons. The crab rangoons are an absolute must-try. They make them from scratch and have the best filling I have ever tasted in a crab rangoon! The calamari was also amazing- hand battered and served with a sauce they make in-house. Delish!!

They also had a wide selection of beer. We did not partake this time.

For the main course, I had chicken pho. It was really great! The broth was perfect, the chicken was moist, and others at my table were drinking the soup like a glass of water because they wanted every last drop!

Everything was above and beyond what I expected from a new restaurant! The staff was perfect, the food was excellent, and the atmosphere was novel and fun! I will definitely be coming back and...

Spike, the owner, went above and beyond to make our experience very memorable. The food was excellent. My fiancé got the seafood pho and I got the brisket. You can tell it’s real broth. You get a lot of meat with your pho. If you’re looking for good soup. This is the best. I wish we tried more but we were too full. We had the margarita which is freshly squeezed lime juice! Such a difference. And then we ended with his homemade coffee which took him a year and a half to perfect. It is perfect. It’s strong (which you need after leaving this place) but so tasty it doesn’t bother you. We’ll be back. In fact, we want to host our wedding reception there now by renting the upstairs bar/buffet and outside deck. It’s a great place and so comfortable. Can’t wait to go back and watch sports there. Literally 6 TVs on each wall lined up together to make one giant screen. Potential mega hub for sports. Do go....

A social group that I am a member of had a meet up at this location, and Spike, the manager, was unbelievably accommodating to us. While we planned to use the upstairs area, Spike was very honest and transparent with us, telling us the A/C temporarily went out. He catered to our large group (30+) while still maintaining the flexibility to serve customers who were not a part of our group. Pirate culture is a major part of Galveston's atmosphere, and pairing it with Vietnamese food is a unique and bold combination catering to a very specific niche of customers. Whether you want to drink rum with your salty seadog friends, or if you want to get an exquisite blend of Cajun-rubbed meat in pho, this is a place you could do both! Thanks for everything, Spike! -Exyborg and the Galveston Gengar Gang

We arrived at Pirate Island & Bar on a warm summer night, and everything about it felt just right – the tropical vibe, the soft music, and the welcoming smiles from everyone around us. The food was spot-on from the very first bite. 🍹 Highly recommend starting with the Tamarind Margarita – tangy, refreshing, and dangerously good! The crispy wings were packed with flavor, and the fresh calamari was light, tender, and perfectly seasoned. 🦑 What made the night truly unforgettable was the hospitality. Mr. Dat, the owner and bartender, treated us like old friends – pouring us his signature coffee and sharing a few of his favorite shots for us to try. It wasn’t just a meal; it was an experience filled with laughter, great flavors, and genuine friendship. Can’t wait to come back for more! 🌴✨
