We initially visited this restaurant after a doctor's appointment. I used Google to find nearby restaurants, and surprisingly, this one was right behind the clinic. The location is convenient, with ample parking. The menu offers a unique twist, deviating from the typical Tex-Mex fare. The food was delicious, and the portion sizes were reasonable for the prices. Although the menu above the register might be a bit challenging to decipher, they provide menu cards that you can take to your table for easier reading.
Orders and payments are processed at the register. The atmosphere leans towards a darker aesthetic, featuring painted walls adorned with images of characters from a Mexican TV comedy and wrestling masks. On my initial visit, I rated it less than 5 stars primarily due to a strong smell of cigarette smoke indoors, which detracted from the dining experience. However, during my recent return, the situation had notably improved. The owner explained that on Fridays and weekends, clients from the adjacent business, who are heavy smokers, inadvertently contribute to the smell, which is beyond his control. Nevertheless, he has taken measures to minimize the impact, such as covering gaps between the establishments. Today's dining experience was thoroughly enjoyable. We sampled various dishes, all of which were exceptionally delicious. Offering complimentary chips while waiting for orders would enhance the overall experience. In conclusion, I strongly recommend...
Read moreHoly guacamole! The guacamole is absolutely delicious. So FANTASTIC!! The horchata is the best I have ever drank with a light spice flavor. The Quesabirria from the SPECIALTIES section of the menu are so tasty, a slow cooked pulled beef that when served look like 3 tacos served with a cup of warm consome dipping broth, onions, lime chunks and cilantro. Ordered on the owner's recommendation, the Gordita with chicharron con carne was hot off the grill and fantastic! It was filled with shredded, slow cooked pork meat and was the largest gordita that I have ever seen. It was the best gordita that I ever eaten. There was an option available for a spicy sauce, but I chose the milder red suace option on the meat. I added a little extra green salsa on some bites for additional flavors of old Mexico. I'll be going back for more. Everything has authentic Mexican flavor and is served hot and fresh from the kitchen. I could taste the love in every bite and in every sip. I am a local Galvestonian. Born a few blocks away from this restaurant and with Mexican heritage. The owner explained to me that he used to prepare and sell street tacos in Mexico City, Mexico. His mission is to serve authentic Mexican food. It looks to me like he is accomplishing...
Read moreI would give it a 5 star except for the poor cashier customer service on a Sunday I was there with my family and it was our first time there, excited to try everything on the menu. The cashier did not greet at all and took a very long time to take our order. They were out of sprite , flan and chicken tenders which was everything we needed for the kiddos. For the adults we did order the most popular tacos and alambre which was delicious For kids, we asked for chicken taco but we noticed the cashier rang up tinga taco instead without telling us and kids don’t like the tomate sauce, she showed no interest to explain the dishes or menu at all. We had to ask how everything was prepared after that just to make sure. We were really hungry after a long drive and were told food was going to be out in 30 minutes even though it ended up being like 10 minutes we felt unwanted at...
