POST SIGNS: If having anchored and secured items are not allowed, it should be known! Canopy frame was literally STOLE while trying to take it down. This was our FIRST vacation ever and while tending to my autistic child, had to leave the frame for a couple hours until I could get to it. A friendly gentleman next door tried to help and Was yelled at and told “NO! STEP BACK” They refused to give opportunity or explanation why they were just taking it. Had a potential minor disaster, (locked keys in vehicle), result in a pleasant encounter with the GIBP. A very friendly & courteous lifeguard by the name of Mark stationed near the Pleasure Pier came to my rescue, turned the situation around and got me into the water and surfing in no time. Sand was clean. No weeds anywhere in site. The place had $8 parking for vehicles and $35 umbrella rental with 2 chairs. Don't mind paying that. They have a giant gazebo style building with lots of clean showers and places to clean off. Very nice! The water is of course dirty ( thank you Mississippi river) but is very swimable. I recommend this place for all out of towners. Don't be fooled by the name. Its more than just a beach...
