My daughter and I had a disappointing experience at the Georgetown location today. I'm not sure if there is an actual policy change, or if the manager is using personal discretion to honor or deny benefits amongst wine club members. My daughter has been a member for over two years now and up until today, we've never been informed that members may have only two complimentary glasses of wine per week. For the past two years, she'd typically visit Grape Creek about twice per week whenever she travels to Georgetown (approx 3-4 times per year.) We were informed during the sign up process that that there was no cap or limit on the number of times a member could visit during the week for complimentary drinks, rather we were informed that there is a limit of two complimentary drinks per day (one for the member and a guest) my daughter was totally blindsided today when they charged her $25 for two glasses. I spoke with the manager, who rudely stated the policy changed in 2019 and that we "got lucky" visiting multiple times per week as no one was enforcing that policy. I feel her demeanor was inappropriate and condescending as my daughter explained that she was unaware as she'd never received an email, letter or call regarding this policy change. The manager crossed the line when she loudly stated "There are too many people moving here, if we gave out free drinks everyday, people would drink us out of house and home!" I didn't appreciate this comment as we are paid members, not free-loaders as she cryptically suggested. I question whether or not this "policy change" is authentic as I have a hard time believing anyone can be that "lucky" during a two-year membership. If it is true, then the error lies with her staff. In any case, we did not deserve such shabby treatment today. Wine club members should be informed of all policy changes well in advance and not blindsided on a whim. My daughter is canceling her membership due to this woman's rude,...
Read moreWe recently became members at the Fredericksburg location after exceptional service, which sold us. So we decided to stop by the Georgetown location on Sunday to pick up our wine allocation. it was roughly a 15-20min wait to get a table. The hostess was very nice and made sure to update the wait time. However once we got upstairs the service seemed to stop. We ordered our glasses of wine and a charcuterie and cheese snack, which literally comes in a box no effort was made to even place it on a plate. Also for the cost it’s absolutely not worth it for an overpriced adult lunch-able. We made an effort to order more snacks and wine the gentleman waiting on people seemed to ignore our request 4x when we tried to wave him over, 2 of which it was very obvious with him just a few feet away. We then requested waters. We saw him give every table near us waters without requesting but failed to give us any. At this point having been ignored multiple times, we decided to leave. I heard him speak more to us during our checkout process than the entire hour plus we were there, which came off as unauthentic as he was just looking for a tip. Mind you you can’t tip less than 15% so maybe there isn’t an incentive for good service? After how we were repeatedly ignored I decided to cancel my membership the very next day. It’s a pricey membership for the black label and being a member of other wine clubs you can get better selection elsewhere.
Also perhaps this isn’t the membership for us, we’re late 20’s early 30’s and everyone there seemed older. You can get better service, wine and food at the Kork Wine Bar...
