I had this place bookmarked for a year (don't live in the area) and have been very excited to try it. My high hopes were sadly way too high for this establishment. The good was the lady who took my call when I asked if they could sit a table of 6 prior to coming in. She was super pleasant and told me "Of course no problem we have plenty of tables". That was in fact the case when we arrived on a Saturday (last week) at 12 p.m. We got sat instantly and our server greeted us fairly quickly along with taking our order and getting us our waters. So far, so smooth, until it wasn't...

It took ONE whole hour for our food. To put it in context, we ordered VERY simple meals. 3 kids meals, 1 golden dip sandwich, 1 smash burger, and 1 fried fish sandwich, 0 apps or anything else. All extremely simple meals, that should not take an hour to make. Mind you, there was one other larger party of 6-8 there, and I maybe saw a total of 4 other small tables in the whole place.

One of my biggest frustrations of the whole situation, is I understand when the kitchen is backed up or something occurs that is going to delay our food, but simply as a server communicate that to us. Dont have us in limbo for a straight hour not stopping by once to give us an update. We finally got the "I know the food is taking long, it should be coming out soon" right at the hour mark, about 30 minutes too late than when you should have.

To add salt to the wound, none of us liked our food. The kid's tenders were burnt and overcooked. We informed the manager, not in hopes of a new batch, we didn't want to wait another hour, but just so he is aware. When he came out, he didn't even come to the right table, this just shows how unorganized they are. When we informed him, he didn't seem to truly care at all, but at least he did the right thing and took them off our bill.

My mother is not picky, but she was not able to finish her fish sandwich. It was extremely bland. The same goes for my golden dip. I am a sucker for a good sliced roast beef with au jus. There was no flavor at all, I could only finish half of it. My tip to the chef who made this, go try the one at Culinary Dropout, they know how to make this sandwich. My father's burger was decent, but that man hardly complains so who knows. I will say, everyone liked the fries at least!

This place seems good for the cocktails, those were flying left and right for the other party next to us with no delay. The ambiance is nice too, with plenty of good AC on these hot days. Don't come here for the...

My party visited Golden Rule Restaurant in Georgetown, for a birthday celebration. We informed our server upon arrival about the special occasion, as is customary for birthday celebrations at restaurants. The dining experience fell significantly short of expectations. Our main courses (beef stroganoff), were served luke warm and the fish dish was tasteless and bland. The lengthy wait times between server visits meant we felt compelled to eat most of the food due to how late it had become. When we brought the issues to our server's attention, we received only a dismissive response and an insincere apology. Service continued to be problematic throughout the meal. Drinks were rarely refilled or offered, and we experienced long waits between server check-ins. The overall attention to our table's needs was poor, and there was minimal acknowledgment of our friend's birthday celebration. The final disappointment came with the bill. Despite the food and service issues, no adjustments were made to our check. Additionally, we were charged for what was implied to be a complimentary birthday dessert. Following our disappointing experience, I attempted to contact the restaurant directly to address these concerns. However, I was unable to find any contact or email address publicly available. This lack of accessibility for customer feedback is disappointing and left me with no choice but to share my experience through an online review, which was not my preferred method of resolution. While we understand restaurants can have off nights, the combination of cold food, inattentive service, and lack of any attempt to make things right left us feeling completely disappointed. The restaurant failed to meet basic expectations for both food quality and...

Awful experience today. Met with friends for lunch to celebrate a birthday. Made a reservation and we were seated at the time of our reservation. Ordered drinks and 2 appetizers. Received our drinks, and then waited over an hour for our appetizers. An actual hour. Reservation at noon - received appetizers at 1:30. Our server avoided our table for at least 30 minutes during the hour wait for our appetizers. We ordered additional drinks during that time period and watched them sit at the bar prepared and ready to come to our table for 15+ minutes while they became watered down. After flagging down another employee to ask about our appetizers and to bring us our drinks, the appetizers finally arrived and were cold. The “carne asada” on our fries was rubbery, overcooked, and had no seasoning. Appeared they had been prepared a while ago and sat there. A minute or two after our appetizers arrived, our entrees came out. Also cold and not appetizing in the least bit. Potatoes served with the frittata were diced up so small and had no seasoning.

Throughout our 2+ hours there, we saw two separate groups of people get seated, order drinks, and then leave because they never received their drinks and their waiter never returned to their table. Another table behind us said they waited over an hour for their entrees, and then waited 30 minutes for their server to come close out their tab. So the entire ship was sinking and it was an extreme disappointment for a birthday lunch. Will not...

So first off: i love Kason, who is the bar manager. He was very helpful the first 2 times I went there. The other bartenders were great too! Service makes or breaks a restaurant in my opinion. Also Elijah(Eli) was a great server and put up with me and my group! Now to the food: Brussel sprouts were great- the peppers added a different flare to the dish. Also it was a plus because Greenhouse had been my Brussel sprouts spot in Georgetown Steak(app) -was pretty good especially with the sauces Shrimp-very yummy and I definitely didn't share Queso- so the queso has pork in it, which made it more likely to be eaten by me :) but the plus about this queso was that it wasn't cheesy- more milky(really good) i dont know how else to explain it- JUST TRY IT Drinks! I really enjoyed the cactus flower-- i cant remember the name of the other drink but it was also very good(i think it was Adios Maria-dont quote me) My thought- Make a reservation- the inside is small and the patio fills up The patio needs a TV (imho) i think the restaurant gives a good vibe that i can go get drinks, eat apps and watch a game Also they need a number for guests to call but I do like that we are able to reserve a table online Overall I have had good experiences

The Golden Rule is the Golden Standard of high-end bourbon bars in the area. It easily has the best hard-to-find bourbon in the area. High-end tequila, beer on tap, and wine are also on the menu. The prices are what they are, high-end bourbon is not cheap, but if you drink it you already know that. The food is great, especially the Cantonese Riblets, I order like 4 every time I come in. The service is good, maybe a little slow, but once again you're in a high-end bourbon bar where the average customer is slowly sipping on their bourbon of choice and doesn't want to be bothered by a server every couple of minutes, and the staff has adapted to this. Needless to say, the staff isn't in a giant rush to wait on you, so set your expectations accordingly. The old fashioned is slap your momma good, and priced right. The Golden Rule also has a club that you can join with awesome benefits like discounts on drinks, a locker for your own booze, and the ability to use their private room for your events/business meetings. Come visit The Golden Rule and I think you'll quickly see why this place is my go-to drink spot north of the Austin area.
